Exclamation Shareaza

Shareaza is becoming very popular. I haven't tried it yet. I am still using the ed2k network. There are so many file sharing options now it is hard to know if there is anything out there that is actually better than the ed2k network. Apart from being better, it also needs to be a clean option with no spyware / adware.
SpywareInfo has a very good information page related to file sharing programs and listing their Clean / Infected status. You can read it here.

Um, Protocol? Is there some reason why you're digging up a thread that's 2.5 years old?

Well, I was going to post about Shareaza and File Sharing programs and found an existing thread. Can't waste a perfectly good existing thread now, can we? I also thought that the SpywareInfo page was interesting and worth posting. Is that reason good enough or do I need to think of a better one?

Well, I am sure others will find the post informative. If it annoys you, then ignore it. It isn't that difficult.
Not sure why a threads age has anything to do with a decision to post to it.

PS: There are Forums that I visit who will warn and ban you if you create a new thread when one with the same subject exists. Search before posting is their motto. Some active threads date back 4 years and older.

I've used Shareaza for the past 2 years I guess it's been. It's great.

And there are forums that I visit that frown on people reviving threads that haven't been posted to in a long time. (Necroposting) Usually it's reccomended that you just start a new thread, referencing and/or linking the old thread in your new one if needed. Some even have the forum setup to automaticly lock threads after a certain amount of time with no replies.

So if the thread hasn't been locked, then it is open to post to. I never read any rule that prevented someone from posting to a thread after a certain amount of time. What is the EXACT reasoning for this to upset you? Please be specific so we can all see what it is. How old is too old before the thread is stale and mouldy? I don't see why someone should refrain from posting to a thread simply because someone in their infinite wisdom has decided to create a name for someone who posts to old threads.

I just received a PM from someone telling me how good Shareaza really is. I have since learnt that it uses up to four separate peer-to-peer (P2P) networks including EDonkey2000, Gnutella, BitTorrent and Shareaza's native network, Gnutella2 (G2).
And it is supposed to be Spyware free. Sounds like a winner to me.

I installed shareaza once but it seemed to fiddle with a lot of things and install stuff that I didn't want, so I got rid of it. I use bitcomet for file sharing, which obviously works on the bittorrent network.

I tried shareaza some time ago. Maybe it connected to those networks, maybe it didn't. It certainly didn't seem to live up to it's promise. I'll have to check it out again some day.
For the record, I was impressed at the resurrection, Protocol. I spent some time double and triple checking those dates
