why is auto-update not working in DEV-builds?

I am a big fan of this great player!!! But I have the feeling that the auto-update isn't working in the DEV-builds (it doesn't alert, when there is a new DEV-build available)... Is there a good reason for this?

Well I hope this can be fixed (if it isn't fixed yet)

Notifications of an update are only sent when a release version is released, not betas.
