I'd like to be able to toggle the playlist scroll effect off, as on larger playlist windows it can lag a bit and be fairly resource hungry.

look in
Settings > Display > Auto scroll display text
also, in the same place, checkbox for "text transition animations"

or are you talking about the actual playlist area when you have more tracks than the playlist area can hold?

yeah the second point, i have 2000 songs in my main playlist, so it does the scroll effect, where it scrolls to the new song when shuffle mode is enabled. Id like to be able to toggle that off so it just flicks to the new song in the playlist in shuffle without scrolling to it.

With the scroll effect on with my current skin (an edited version of graphyte with smaller playlist song title font size), CPU usage sky rockets to 50% when i go to the next shuffled song and it scrolls to the entry in the playlist window. without having shuffle on and it not needing to do the scroll thing CPU usage goes down to between 5 and 10% on song change. HUGE difference. And its not like im on a slow system, athlon 2700 with ddr 2700, so...

Yep, I agree with Hedge, that's something I would use to.

hmmm maybe this port i made of a winamp skin will show just how resource hungry the playlist song transistion can be...
install the skin (rename the zip to qsk (y no upload of qsk files allowed???)), load a playlist with a fair few songs on it (probably a few hundred...) (oh yeah make sure u keep the playlist showing...), turn shuffle on and use task manager or something to monitor cpu usage, and hit next.. and watch cpu sky rocket.

This sort of thing will become an issue when resizeable playlists are integrated... some people like their playlists really long (like me, yes i do use this skin...)

WOW! Great job. I've tried to use that porting program at home on a 98SE box, but it keeps crashing the system. How do you do it? There are a few winamp skins I would like to port. By the way, once you switch to playlist form, how do you switch back to main mode?

I agree, that is a nice skin. The volume animation is clever too. I don't know if you're interested in feedback, but some hover effects on the buttons would be a nice addition.

lol, yeah thats generally a good thing... this is just the version of the port i use... i might make a version with a smaller playlist window (and include the skinned vis's i just put in) and post it in the skins section
That may take some time though cos im at dads, and well, when im up here, i get REALLY lazy...

By the way, once you switch to playlist form, how do you switch back to main mode?
use the PL button on the main screen... i was going to add the close button, but that means making some map changes, cos the converted skin used some weird map colors to open the extensions (they aren't on the colormap thing nemore, hmmm probably old skool...).... maybe when i get over that whole lazy thing...

but some hover effects on the buttons would be a nice addition.
Ya know, i was thinking exactly the same thing... see lazy thing... lol

oh yeah, how did i get the converter to work... its called win xp!!!
maybe ya missing some visual basic runtimes (i think this version is made in VB)
