Is there a reason why the crossfading plug-in is not as loud as the WaveOut plug-in?

No answers at'all? Sorry if it's a dumb-seeming question, but I'm very curious. Thanks.

I read somewhere that it depends on the capability of your soundcard. For some people crossfade plugins will sound just as good, and others not. But I'm not 100% sure that's the real reason.

It's just because of the way DirectSound works.

Is there not a way to have non-DirectSound output but with fading?

Yes, that's what the SqrSoft crossfader does, it uses WavOut.

Er, I don't seem to have this plug-in, and I can't find it on the site (which really needs a search function, methinks). Is it available for DL, or do I somehow already have it or what? Thanks much!

the sqrsoft plugin does not work with qcd, it is a winamp plugin... but hopefully we'll soon have an output plugin manager which would allow the use of the sqrsoft plug...
