Hi PlugIn Developers,

despite having installed the Tara PlugIn QDC does not play Real Media.
I've got Win XP, RealOne Player. I tried to work with an older edition of real player, such as version G2 but this does not work on this machine or environment (some stuff is locked by Admin).

I am very interested in recording real streaming audio to mp3-Files.

Could anybody please develop something that will work with realONE player?

Thanks
ANDRO

Thanx for the hint.
I did everything recommended there but it's still not working.
I am very thankful that the RealOne Player is still working and did not crash. (Refer to warning http://beta.quinnware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=704&postcount=18)

Do anybody know an alternative to record a RealAudio Stream into a MP3 (or WAV) file?
Or is there something under development to record Real Streaming Audio into MP3 files?

You can use Total Recorder to record a Real stream (or any other stream for that matter), then to save it as WAV, MP3, or Ogg.

It isn't freeware, but the standard edition is very reasonably priced. I've used it for over a year now, and would find it difficult to be without.

This is what I did to get the real plug-ins to work in qcd, and I don’t have the real player installed…

1) installed the tara and QCD video plug-in

2) I then installed the realcodecs11 from http://shaohao.vip.sina.com/RealCodecs11.zip (http://shaohao.vip.sina.com/RealCodecs11.zip) which you don’t actually need, but there are a few files that are missing from the other install which stop the real media working. Install it to a folder, anywhere e.g "C:\My Documents\New Folder\"

3) I then installed the realalt110 from www.kazaalite.tk (http://www.kazaalite.tk/) to its default location.

4) I then copied the “common” folder from the “RealCodecs11” install and pasted it into the “realalt110” install folder.

5) There are then 3codecs which are missing from the “realalt110” install which belong in the “plug-ins” folder in the “realalt110” install directory, I can’t remember which ones they where exactly so just copy the files from the “realcodecs11” install plug-ins folder and paste them into the “realalt110” plug-ins folder WITHOUT overwriting the ones that are already in there that way the missing ones will go in.

Now in qcd associate the tara plug-in with “RA:SMI:SMIL:RMM:RNX:RMX:RMJ:RPM:RAM” and the QCD Video plug-in 1.12(latest) with “ASX:WMX:WVX:WAX:ASF:MPG:MPEG:M2V:M1V:AVI:WMV:RV:R M:MPA”

And that works for me with all the real formats I try and wmv still works. Sometime the QCD video plug-in throws a wobbly but I just disable it then restart QCD and re-enable it and it works fine.

oh and i do have the RealMedia Splitter installed from http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/) but i don't think its necissary as i believe its included with the realalternative anyway but if those instructions don't work, then install it and see.

:)

I've found this:
http://www.geocities.com/rawavrecorder

It saves to wav, and then you can use Quintessentail to convert to MP3.

I followed Matty's steps and it worked. The first time I played a RV streaming file, the QCD Video screen came up but it was small. When I went to slide it towards the middle of the monitor, it disappeared and it hasn't reappeared since. Now when I play Real Video files, I only hear the sound. I know it's something supid I'm overlooking but how do you get the video window to reappear? When the RV plays, there's two QCD items in the taskbar so I'm guessing the item with the filename only represents the video window. But nothing happens when I min and max. Thanks so much.
