View Full Version : Sort Playlist by Album Year

I would really like to see the option of sorting the playlist by ARTIST then DATE OF ALBUM RELEASE then ALBUM TITLE. I'm a completist and I enjoy having things in the order produced by the artists themselves.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm very happy with the current state of QCD. Thanks a million, Paul! I spread the QCD gospel daily, and everyone loves it.

I always name the album folders with the year at the beginning, which helps with this for some purposes.
"...twenty-four forty-five sixty-ten sixt'-seven..." ;)

If it isn't much trouble, can it be possible to add a sort option to sort files by creation date?

"...twenty-four forty-five sixty-ten sixt'-seven..."Yeah, that's right, Plover! :)
I name my folder with the date also, but if I ever need to use the Sort button within QCD those dates lose meaning. I'm unbelievably anal with my filenames and tags. I have nearly 5,000 mp3's and everyone of them follow the same naming convention:
Artist - Year - Album \ Album - # Title - Artist .mp3
This would have been an insanely difficult task without QCD and it's Tagging-Filenaming powers! All hail it!

For music organizational type stuff, nothing I've found come close to The GodFather (http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/) . :)

What's your problem?

if i change the files names of my media files, my playlists will have invalid file references; they will point to the old filename, not the new one.

krazyd - excellent recommendation, thanks very much indeed! I'd never done anything with my 1,500 file tags because I knew they must be a complete pig's ear; but an hour or two with The GodFather and now they're all in good order! One immediate benefit is that when I go to randomise a playlist, it really gets randomised instead of only partly so, as it did before (I assume the QCD randomiser operates on tags).
