Is there some way to permanently dock the playlist to the player? The playlist is constantly restoring itself when I don't want it. I want to set QCD so that it never restores, unless I click it.

Am I the only one who has this problem?

my guess is that it depends on what skin you are using.
Try using "save seperate positions for each mode" under skin options

I'm using the standard QCD skin

Thanks for the tip -- tried it, but the problem remains.

So here's the deal:
I have several windows open, including QCD. I use the "show desktop" button (Windows XP) to minimize all the windows. If I then restore any of the windows, the QCD playlist also restores, separate from the player. Does this detail help with any troubleshooting?

hmm, very strange. I also use the default skin but in 'runt' mode, and my playlist when shown attached to the player remains attached to the player. And when i hide the playlist, it remains hidden. Having said this, i did exactly as you said by clicking on 'show desktop,' etc.

That is correct, sir. And really, what use is having the playlist showing when the main window is still hidden? If you duplicate what I did, does the same thing occur?
OK, I think I can replicate this bug, or at least something simmilar to it. If I have QCD and another window visible and hit show desktop. Then if I click any other window to restore it, an instant before that window draws to the screen, I see QCD appear behind that window. Then if I minimze the window I just restored, there's QCD again open on the desktop without me ever clicking to restore it.
Here's the odd part: on one occasion, the playlist did appear above the window that I restored. I suspect it's just the order the windows are being drawn in. (of course, the QCD window shouldn't be drawn anyway, nevermind order) gavorney, if you re-minimize the window you just restored, is the rest of QCD (ie the main player area) visible?

No. The playlist remains visible but the main QCD window is still hidden.

Does it happen with all extensions? Maybe only with draggable extensions. Does it happen on any other skins? skins like Phaseless, Prizm and Candy Glass? Those all use draggable extensions. Does the EQ pop up if it is open also?
I think I may have had this happen before.

Sorry, I don't know what "extensions" refers to. I have never used any skins other than the standard skin. The EQ does not restore -- just the playlist.
My initial report was with Tubular. As suggested, I'm testing with Prizm, and now my results are a bit more like gavorney's. Show desktop, restore a window, and now only the playlist and whatever other extensions were visible (eq or skinned vis) become visible, and this time they're behind the window rather than on top of it. I'm also running into the, erm, "feature" of QCD that I found into back here (http://www.quinnware.com/forums/messages/4/6010.html?1061094359) where QCD reacts very differently to show desktop with different combinations of always on top and show tray icon being on or off.
Rundown of obersvations using Prizm skin with playlist, skinned vis, and eq extended and docked to main area:
With always on top turned off and tray icon set to no tray icon (default IIRC): Show desktop hides everything. Restore a window, nothing appears above window. Reminimize window, QCD extensions visible on desktop but not main QCD window.
With always on top turned on and tray icon set to no tray icon: Hit show desktop and the main QCD area disappears, but all extensions are still visible on the desktop. Restore/reminimize doesn't change anything.
With always on top turned off and tray icon set to show in system tray only: Show desktop hides everything. Restore a window and QCD is briefly visible on the desktop before the restored window is drawn to the screen. QCD does not appear above restored window, but if window is reminimized, both QCD main area and extensions are visible on the desktop.
With always on top turned on and tray icon set to show in system tray only (how I normally have QCD set): Hit show desktop and QCD doesn't disappear at all (which is how I prefer it, personally) Reminimize/restore doesn't change anything.
Hope this helps somebody out there...

And not only that, when I select "always on top," the "show desktop" button will not hide the playlist at all. It will hide (and restore) the main QCD window, but the playlist is always showing.
