Hi,
A request for more keyboard support for the player:
The ability to highlight a track in the playlist using the UP/Down arrow key and able to delete the highlighted/selected track from the playlist/or if possible physically delete it by hitting the DELETE button.Shouldn't matter if a song is playing or not.
Also the ability to play the selected/highlighted track by hitting the RETURN key ( so basically once I highlight the track I could either Delete it or I could Play it).
Also, is there a way to control the scroll buttons (scroll through the playlist) using the keyboard instead of the mouse?
Currently I have to use the MOUSE to select a track and play/delete it unless there is a way exists to use the keyboard for that.
I don't see HOTKEYS plugin having an option for this.
(More discussion on this in the Playlist Preview feature thread

Thanks Much.
Agreed that you should be able to puruse the playlist using the keyboard, and then hit enter to play current selection. However, the up/down arrow keys are taken by volume control, and I can't make it depend on which window (playlist or player) is currrently selected as both can exist in the same window (dependant on skin). I will probably assign the number pad arrows for playlist navigation.
However, this currently is a system in place for keyboard access. You can just type the number of any track you want to play then hit enter.

sorry if this is the biggest load of rubbish you've ever heard coming up..i really have very limited programming knowledge...
But i would have thought that you could change the function of the up/.down arrow keys depending on whether the playlist has focus or not.... like is currently done in the search box.
if the search box has focus the up/down arrows do not change the volume, but have another function...
so, if playlist focus = true then
up/down keys function = track selected up.down
else
up/down keys function = volum up down
etc...
now... sorry for wasting your time :p

How about giving +/- keys to the volume control? Also getting PageUP/Page Down
keys involved? Also the Tab and Shift Tab keys?
Thanks

How about just adding it to the Hotkeys plugin so users can pick their own key combinations?

I've been using the Hotkeys plug-in for a while now and I've got pageup and down set as the playlsit control buttons and home set as pause. Works out quite nicely.

I am a Windows 98 SE operating system user, and I am using Quinntessential Player 4.11 build 69. Also, I think that Matt and Paul Quinn could add more keyboard functions such as Ctrl + 1, Alt + 1, or Shift + 1 to the keyboard plug-in on the Quinntessential website for Windows 98 SE operating systems, or later. :gasmask: :gasmask: :skull: :skull:

Just remember that he's a Win98 SE user... and he's that damn good !
Here's an idea for ya: how about LESS keyboard support? Sometimes I'll forget that QCD has focus (ie it's the window that my keystrokes go to) and I'll start typing something. Then I'll realize that the window I'm trying to type into doesn't have focus, click on it, and be on my way... until I'm suddenly wondering why QCD is shuffling my songs. "Aw crap, did it again...."
Or better yet, how about an option to remap those commands to other key strokes/commands?

I get your point dude... I never use the keyboard to control QCD. If I want to change something I just go there and click it. How lazier can you get? Wait... I think I have it. I guess someone should develop a telekinesis plugin so you can control QCD with your mind. OK OK maybe I exagerated. But maybe voice commands as well? I was playing around and XP has some sort of voice recognition embedded that I guess that was used by Shaohao to develop his DJ plugin.

I was totally working on such a plugin, but then my headphones with attached microphone broke. So I stopped since I didn't have a mic anymore.

Hi,
I don't think it's quite a matter of laziness..... but what input device you wanna use. In my case, I try to avoid using Mouse (ergonomics etc..) as much as possible and use Keyboard ...shortcuts for most stuff...
Thanks

I agree, I prefer the mouse, you prefer the keyboard. We all have the option to use whatever we prefer... viva QCD !

Endeavouring to sidestep the debate as to whether keyboard shortcuts in general are a good idea (personally I love them), I would like the QuinnWare HotKeys plugin to include the ability to set hotkeys to hide/show QCD, please. I've found that not even a good system-wide utility like 4t Tray Minimizer works flawlessly with QCD, probably because QCD has a non-standard window except with a few of its skins.
On the topic of keyboard shortcuts, it would be nice if I could hit alt+enter for the video plugin without the video plugin having focus. (ie if the main QCD window has focus)
fatal error
