View Full Version : bluetooth avrcp control of qmp
hi guys,
This HAS to have come up before, surely i'm not the first with a bluetooth headset listening to QMP! Did a quick search of the forum, didnt see anything though.
Just got a pair of sony bluetooth headphones, paired it with my bluetooth enabled dell laptop. It sounds great, excellent sound. One problem: the ff/rew and pause/play buttons (located on the bluetooth headphones) work perfectly with windows media player, are able to control windows media player remotely, but they dont work at all with QMP.
Any ideas? Has anyone looked into this before? etc.
Thanks!
One would hope they had the good sense to use the same controls as those used by keyboards for such things, but I suppose good sense is too much to hope for sometimes...
i searched around for a winamp plugin for avcrp control from bluetooth headphones. There are a lot of requests out there for such a plugin. I didnt find any. Commercial media players (wmp, itunes, quicktime, etc) do support bluetooth remote control via avcrp. Seems like most of the other ones dont. Wondering what it would take for such support though. Seems like a plug-in would be needed.

I didn't know AVRCP before, but browsing around google it seems like the bluetooth stack sets up an AVRCP target which receives and parses the commands. Then it calls the audioplayers directly apparently, since the driver release notes mentions support for specific players. (This is a guess though, but since it doesn't work for non supported players they apparently aren't broadcasting standard mediabutton commands)
To be able to receive the commands for other non supported players, the player needs to set it self up as AVRCP target as far as I can tell, which requires you to interact with the bluetooth stack. It would be much easier if you could just hook some system wide messages... :(

Links to the Sony headset you use ??
Bluetooth rulez...
I'm using the sony dr-bt22 (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DRBT22-Wireless-Stereo-Headset/dp/B000VE7S9Q/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215104124&sr=8-2).
And bluetooth DOES rule! This is my first set of bluetooth headphones, I was really sceptical given my past experiences with BT, but I have to tell you, I'm astonished at the convenience and the sound quality. I think i'm actually "delighted". And I'm a pretty cynical guy generally ;)
(I also got it for half amazon's price on ebay, which promoted my mental state from 'delighted' to 'ecstatic').

Thanks mate... will look into those, I'm buying a new phone and want to get bluetooth headphones with it. My current phone does Bluetooth, but does not support A2DP (or something like that) that can't stream music to the headphones...
