Hello, I am a brand new member here. I love the QP but I am running into a small problem. I did search the forum, but couldn't find my specific problem. So I apologize if I missed this problem in the forums...

I have a few folders full of wav files, windows media files and mp3's on My computer. My main folder holds the majority of my songs. There are close to 16,000 tunes in that folder. My problem is....when I bounce back and forth from folder to folder...I get a huge lag issue while the icons reload themselves in front of the song title especially in the main folder as You would imagine. Then I will hit a letter to advance through My songs and it takes an even longer time to catch up to where I advanced. When I resort back to a different player such as Windows Media or Musicmatch Jukebox...The scanning process thru My songs are very fast and fluent. I like the QP, but I don't want to have to bounce back and forth just for the ease of scanning through My files.

Why do the QP icons have to reapply themselves every time I leave a folder then come back? What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do? I tried to look in the file associations and icon sections in the player's preferences section...But I couldn't figure out how to keep the icons to stay...

I would appreciate anyones help with this matter...

i'll go out on a limb here and say that wmp and mm have both added your files to their libraries?
and since you are using the older version of *qmp [qcd] which does not have a library... :bulb:


*the newer versions of the player DO have a library though.

I think he is talking about speed when browsing the music folders from Explore and not in the player in self, which shouldn't be affected by whether the player has a library or not. Or maybe I'm reading it wrong...

Yes, I am talking about the speed browsing My folders. Sorry If I wasn't real clear on that....

When I convert the files to mm the icons are always there...even when I reboot My computer...
When I convert the files to QP the icons have to reload every time I visit each folder, at any time.

I have no idea why there would be a difference between QCD/QMP and other players. :( Have you tried downloading another icon pack from the plug-ins section and trying to use one of those to see if it changes anything?
The icons should be cached in the Shell Icon cache and it sounds like the QMP ones aren't for some odd reason.
