Hello everyone,

Not sure if I have the right forum for this, but here goes. Just installed QMP Build 119 on my PC (XP SP2). I used to have the old QCD 4.51 installed (quite a while ago), and I thought I would give the new QMP a go to see what had changed. Anyway, I have a problem - I can't get the equalizer to work. No matter what preset I select, or what level I drag each slider to, the currently playing music is not affected in any way (it doesn't audibly change). I have tried both WaveOut and Simple DirectSound output plugins. Can anyone help me? And yes, the EQ 'power' button has the green glow around it, indicating that the equalizer is enabled.

Thanks,

CM

did the EQ used to work with the older version?
what type of soundcard do you have: onboard, creative labs, m-audio etc?

Why not try the directsound cross-fade plugin as well? (You can disable x-fade)

Rex has the right answer.

The equalizer will only work for me when using the CrossFading DirectSound Playback Plug-in.

If all else fails with the built-in EQ, you could always use an external DSP equalizer. Posihfopit (http://www.aixcoustic.com/index.php/posihfopit_edition/30/0/) is a pretty nice parametric EQ. Read this (http://qwiki.toejob.org/installing_plugins#winamp_dsp_plugins) if you need help installing it.

This method will also work with any output plugin.

Hi everyone,

Yes, the equalizer used to work with 4.51 - not sure what settings I had set in QCD to get it that way though ;)

Anyway, yes - changing the output to CrossFading DirectSound did the trick. The equalizer works now :)

(I probably had the same output selected in the old version in retrospect)

The internal equalizers was removed from the input plug-ins after QCD. (The plan was to replace it with a general, high quality DSP plug-in) So atm. it needs to be enabled in the output plug-in instead. (As you found out :) )
