I just installed version 4.10 and have been getting an error about not being registered in the CDDB. When I started QCD it never asked me about registering, and I'm wondering if ther is a way to do this manually.

I tried the suggestions there. Unregistering the dll didn't work. (I'm using win2K so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.)

I uninstallled QCD and deleted every occurance of CDDB I could find in the registry, then reinstalled. Still the same results.

hmm. here are the steps as i see them, although some of this may be a bit old. sounds like you did them, though.

1. delete the cddb folder under qcd's folder

if that doesn't work...
2. unregister/register the cddb control dll...
open a command (or DOS) prompt. CD to the windows directory and type 'regsvr32 /u cddb.dll'. A message should say something about a successful unregister. Then type 'regsvr32 cddb.dll'. Try launching the CDDB registration from QCD.

actually on my system, i didn't have cddb.dll file, i had these three files in windows/system32/
cddbui.dll, cddbcontrol.dll, cddbcodec.dll

if that doesn't work...
3. delete the CDDB control registry keys
open RegEdit.exe and delete this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CDDB\Control\1.0 (or similar)

i'm not sure, but i think CDDB only needs your registration info if you're submitting information, not if you're retrieving information.

if all that hasn't worked, i don't know what else to say. paul may have to jump in here.

I really appreciate the help.

Last night I downloaded the legacy version of QCD, and the CDDB worked fine. So I uninstalled and reinstalled version 4.10 and it still gave the same error. It's got me scratching my head.
