Hi, I am new to the forum. Is it possible that when I used QCD to broadcast, that the Url for quinnware was put into the ID3 tag information of my mp3s?

Depends on the plugin you're using to broadcast. I've never tried putting a URL in, but it should be possible.

I should probably finish writing my broadcasting guide (http://qwiki.toejob.org/broadcasting_streaming_audio) one of these days... :ditsy:

I used the shoutcast source DSP plugin and never did put the quinnware url anywhere in the settings. See I used the shoutcast source DSP plugin with QCD to broadcast and then I tried the QMP and used it to listen to my stream but didn't use the QMP to broadcast. Even though I liked both, I went back to Winamp and when I was listening to my stream using the new Bento skin and rolled my mouse over the words 'Visit Station Homepage,' the homepage for quinnware comes up not mine. I've already been on the Winamp forum trying to figure this out and a solution has not yet been reached. - http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=280042
So I came here to see if anyone had any ideas on how this could have happened.

Which field of the ID3 tags?

Did you rip the tracks using QCD?

No I didn't rip any music using the QCD. I don't know which field he was suggesting they might be in (the winamp forum thread). Though in the thread, my dj, who does not live in the same house with me and does not have QCD or QMP installed on her computer, said that she could see the quinnware url in the Bento display window where it says "Visit Station Homepage." I'm really confused about how to fix this.

Even though I no longer have QCD or QMP on my computer, in the C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch folder is files for QCD and QMP. If I get rid of them will that have a bad effect on my computer or any of it's systems?

The Prefetch folder contains files Windows uses to speed up the boot process. It may be emptied safely.

Thank you Toe.

I've been thinking that the references to QCD and QMP in the registry might be what's causing the quinnware url to be displayed as my stations homepage in the Bento (Winamp) skin. If I delete the references to QCD and QMP in the registry, might that fix the problem?

Toe

Doubtful. Do the registry entries you're looking at have the exact URL being displayed?

Trueheart

No but they do have something that is confusing me and I've been reading various webpages and still don't understand.

See when I click on the link to listen to my stream, the homepage for my station is displayed in the window as pictured here. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o209/Michael_Trueheart/urlshot1.jpg

But when the next song starts, my homepage url disappears and the quinnware url appears where my homepage url should be as in this picture http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o209/Michael_Trueheart/urlshot2.jpg

I have no idea what's causing this and the people over at the Winamp forums don't know either.

I thought that maybe this is happening because in the registry, when I highlight either qcdplayer.exe or QMPlayer.exe that to the right it says "FriendlyAppName" whereas when I highlight winamp.exe, it doesn't say "FriendlyAppName" to the right. I feel like this guy right here -->

The next step is to find out where Winamp grabs the URL from. If it's from the tags, then you'll need to update the tags of all your files. That should be a 30 second job with any batch tag editor.

Normally the URL is a configuration option in whatever program you're using to stream. I have no idea why it would change from one song to the next, though.

The issue has been resolved by Tom over at the winamp forums. All I needed to do was put my stations url in the url box under Output/Yellowpages on the shoutcast source. I may try QCD again in the future if some features are added that I have really enjoyed in Winamp over the years like the ability to generate an html playlist and to keep track of how many times a track is played. Thank you to everyone that tried to help, it means alot!

[...] like the ability to generate an html playlist [...]
You could use QCD/QMP as your player and keep Winamp for the HTML output. ;-)

and to keep track of how many times a track is played. Thank you to everyone that tried to help, it means alot!
Well, in QMP that's possible. In the Media Library you can right-click the columns and add a "Play Count" column.

If you don't mind me asking, I've heard of it before, but exactly what the heck is the point of exporting a playlist as HTML, anyway?

RaiseHell, for some reason I couldn't quote you when I saw your comment. Anywayz, that's true I could use Winamp for the Html output, though I would rather have all that in one package instead of having to use two seperate applications, plus out of 74.5GB of available space, I currently only have 23.0GB so I have to be careful how much I use and what for. Though I did enjoy experimenting with QCD and QMP. :)

Toe, well the point for me to generate a Html playlist is so I keep track of what I played so hopefully I don't overplay the same selection too often. After I've generated the Html playlist, I copy and paste it into a notepad document for my records. That's what it means for me. :)

Hi Tokelil, thank you for the suggestion. :)
However I already do use last.fm, but I have some files that have the ID3 information missing and so the audioscrobbler doesn't pick those up. Also the audioscrobbler doesn't pick up sound files that are 30 seconds or less. Though last.fm is good and provides some interesting services. :)

You are right. Only "songs" with correct info gets scrobbled. (Either read from medialibrary or id3)
Songs shorter than 30 secs. are only scrobbled if the song has a musicbrain ID. Those are the specs. set by the audioscrobbler guys, so that can't be changed.
