I'm new here. I noticed in the plugins list there's a LAME-based MP3 encoder. Of course, there's also the encoder from GraceNote supplied with the player when you download it. Which encoder do people generally recommend for ripping CDs?

Most people would reccommend you use a stand alone CD ripping program such as Exact Audio Copy or CDex. But if you use QCD, LAME is generally considered to be the best encoder, whereas the Gracenote encoder is easiest to use and is of good quality.

If your qcd encodes without probs you better use lame
If qcd doesn`t, use eac with lame
In a plain win98 I am using the alternative cdfs.vxd so I can encode cd tracks from .cda to lame/mp3 directly. It`s good and fast, as where qcd takes its time.
