View Full Version : Development Build 118

Hello all!

QMP Build 118 is out and is largely a bug-fixing build. Most issues reported by plug-in developers should be addressed. Only UI update made was to the preferences: new skin font settings was created to replace the previous font selection UI.

The fact that this is a bug-fixing build means a release is close. Besides some small feature tweaks, we just need the final QMP skin and website updates to be completed.

Cheers,
-Paul

That sounds like some good long awaited news mate. Good to see. :)

I just noticed a small inconsistency in the media library. When focused on the Audio or Video tabs, there is a 'View Prefs' button, but the button is just 'Prefs' for the Radio tab.

I take it the audio improvements will come in a subsequent release, not too long after the final? I wanna come home...

Great news, downloading now. Does this mean that the default skin will get embedded album art and visuals in full mode next build?

PAUL did a BASS plugin???? Last time I was involved, it was Shaohao's work and it was in, shall we say, less than optimal condition.

However, if Paul did one, that's a whole different kettle of fish.

wow nice! So far very satisfied...

Only a few niggles, its quite hard at times to give focus to the media library. You have to click the title bar of the library itself often to move it above other portions of QMP like the playlist (this is obviously only really an issue in the middle mode.)

I have all my mp3 tags saved into APE frames, you need the APE plugin enabled and to change the entries in the Tag Editors part of the prefs to get QMP to read this yes?

Nice work, congrats on seeing the light at the end of the tunnel :D

/edit: Hmmm Monkeys plugin seems to need to be at the top of the input plugin chain for this to work properly, otherwise QMP is reading the IDEv1 frames instead...
Gah or not lol, its really only coming to be a problem because the replaygain is only stored in APE frames (foobar being rather specific with how it does things :S)
I'll continue fiddling with it and see what i find to be the problem.

Alright found a slight problem, hit 'FInd in Library' from the playlist on a file and the media library right hand navigation pane shall not remember the set size.
And still can't seem to get QMP to read from APE tags for mp3 files :S

Yes! This was a problem in previous builds, and it got corrected. Appears to be back though. A restart is needed to remove all the arrows from the tree from which the files were removed, to remove the entries entirely from different trees, etc.

edit: I guess I am able to delete tracks from the library, but the removal doesn't go very smoothly.

Awesome feature to be able to customize the fonts for every skin element!

Thanks for the update on the hotkeys plugin too!

There's still bug in Pruning mode: last track in the Play Queue never will be deleted, so QMP stucks in endless loop...

This is still not fixed.l If ML is closed when exiting Qmp, the left pane is reset when opening it up again after restart.

Sorry Paul, b118 doesn't work on my OS either. However, since b116 works perfectly, I'll just wait until I get a new system. As far as I can tell, b116 has everything I'll ever need or want, so don't worry about me -- keep improving the player for all the other guys and gals out there.

Can you clarify the issues you are having with 118?

Can you clarify the issues you are having with 118?

It all started with b117:

OK, what happened? The media library no longer has a radio button! If I bring up www.shoutcast.com (http://www.shoutcast.com/) and pick a radio station, it works perfectly in the playqueue, but that's not what I'm used to. What am I doing wrong?

And then I thought:

:scared: Don't tell me this is a W98SE thing :scared:

To which you replied:

Could be, I didn't test Win98 this time. Let me check...

β118 is the most unstable/unusable for me so far
i don't have time right now but i have 3 potential bugs & 1 posted bug :depressed

ok here goes -

can't rip cds [nothing happens]
load music via shift+insert closes the player
eject cd playque remains uncleared
drag and drop not working closure of player imminent.

all reproducible.

can't rip cds [nothing happens] fixed with re-install
load music via shift+insert closes the player fixed with re-install
drag and drop not working closure of player imminent fixed with re-install

eject cd, playque remains uncleared however persists.

drag and drop not working closure of player imminentOMFG!
this is SO debilitating, everything was cool for a couple of hours now it's doing it again.
also right click>context menu does the same thing and my tags [in the playqueue] aren't displayed correctly.

Hi, Paul:
The new skin font function can not save the font settings after qmp is shutdown. The skin font back to the old value after I restart the player.

Good Day Gents!

I recently downloaded the latest beta version of the QMP (B118) player and have experienced an issue where my CPU spikes to 100%! I have to give it the 3 finger salute to quit. I see this issue when I am attempting to write MP3 tags on multiple files. I have seen this issue 3 times in the last 2 days.

I really like the slick look and functionality of the program and hope that you guys can sort it out.

Todd The Kiwi
07-13-2007, 08:04 AM
did you install afresh or over the top?
i had some funky shit with tagging etc but reinstalling it seemed to work.
then it all went arse about face so i went back to β116 :P

same probs here...excessive usage of cpu as high as 98%
fresh installation on new hard drive.

Windows Xp Pro

earlier versions run without problem.

Same problem with cpu usage. Never happened before. I think it correlates with the Music ID process...

Excessive CPU usage during MusicID scanning is nothing new, I've been seeing that for ages.

At least I haven't seen it get stuck scanning the same track over and over lately....

Paul
07-24-2007, 05:32 AM
For you two above that get the error message, are you running *any* plugins that are not from the installer? That would be my first guess for that error. Also, try installing to a new folder just to see if your problems resolve.

idefiXX
07-24-2007, 01:18 PM
Well yes, I have FLAC, AAC and Last.fm plug-in installed.

I cannot reproduce this error, so I won't be able to confirm that it's gone after a clean install.

Tokelil
07-24-2007, 01:32 PM
I can't remember if the AAC plug-in has been updated, but the FLAC plug-in uses the new interfaces, so I would guess it's the one with problems.

(By last.fm plug-in I assume you mean the one by nachdenki. That one doesn't use the new interfaces to my knowledge either, so shouldn't be the problem child. I could be wrong though)

I had a barebones package install when the r6025 error occured...except for visuals. I have just installed the flack plug-in, to see what happens. The R6025 error has not reproduced again...yet. At the time I was using the sonic vis, which on occasion, causes some glitches, ie; fogetting to close or changing the vis, before minimizing. But that would be my own fault. The only other thing I remember doing, at that moment, was opening my browser.

idefiXX
07-28-2007, 04:19 PM
Error occuring again, flac & aac plug-in deleted, last.fm still running.

My guess : either it has something to do with the last.fm plug-in or it's a completely different issue. ;)
