i had a whinge about this before... but now i know for sure that it is a prob with qcd and its input plugs cos its happening on two different systems. both run xp, one home the other pro, one is a athlon, the other a p4, one with direct x 9b the other dx 8.1 both running b67...and its happening on multiple files... and only occuring in qcd... not in winamp or itunes.
So far these are the plugs i have found to miscalculate play times for quite a few of my mp3's:
default quintessential mp3 playback plug
quintessential version of the mad mp3 playback plug
winamp version of the mad mp3 playback plug (used through Winamp input plugin manager plugin)
And heres the really weird part... when using that same mad input plug in winamp song times are being calculated properly... yet not in qcd... strange?!?!
And another strange thing... the mp3pro plug for qcd calculates song times correctly all the time...
heres some pics to back up my rambling...
pic 1 shows qcd with an incorrect playing time... using the QCD mad input plug
pic 2 shows winamp using mad input plug playing the same file displaying the correct playing time... and yes it is the correct playing time... i checked by listening to the song through fully...
pic 3 shows qcd playing the same file... this time using the winamp MAD input plug through the winamp input plug manager
pic 4 shows its not a once off... This time with a different file... first display is qcd using mad plug... second shows winamp using mad plugin and displaying the correct time... third is qcd playing the file using the default mp3 plug... fourth shows qcd playing the file using the mp3pro plug and displaying the correct time...

Turn on "Fast Playing Time Calculation' in the MAD plugin's options.

i get this on files as well, usually variable bite rate files some-times it can be upto a minute out, sometimes just a few seconds

Does the time correct itself when you actually play the file?

no, some times it adjusts it slightly but usually no changes happen

i think i've narrowed the bug down a little more..
MAD (both winamp and qcd versions) and the default mp3 plug seem to miscalculate times mainly when shuffle is on, and not only with VBR's... when shuffle is off song times are calculated properly (at least the ones ive tested on so far...)

Yes, the winamp mad miscalculates as well, just like the QCD 1, not by the same amount, however the winamp 1 corrects itself (in winamp, doens't correct the time in the playlist, but the re-main sorts itself)
