Ottawa in the Night Shots...Toronto is the setting for all the others with the exception of the 'Construction Site' which was about a 2 hour drive North of the City. The majority of images were taken with a 30mm F 1.4 lens used hand held...which is an advantage of a extremely fast lens.

The image of the gentleman on the monitor is that of Don Newman who hosts the premier national daily political show entitled 'Politics' on the CBC. He has been a friend of the family for many, many years. I was allowed to sit in the control room while the show was being produced and they were generous enough to allow me to take photographs of the proceedings. I am personally quite fond of this image...as I consider it a very telling 'Portrait'.

Every photographers needs are different and whatever camera feels the most comfortable in your hands is the one to take a closer look at.

I use a Canon D-20 with an arsenal of some of the finest lenses Canon manufacture.

If I was to purchase a Nikon it would be a no brainer...the Nikon D 200 with the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED lens.

Here's a few I took on a recent trip to the beach. It's a lot colder and windier than it looks.
All shots taken on a Fujifilm F-11 compact.

No offense meant to anybody else (and I include myself in that group) but I truly believe that your imagery is the best that this forum has exhibited. In the end Photography cannot be taught for the simple fact that the art is in the eye and how one 'sees'. You have this talent in spades.

As a professional, I lose interest in pursuing images beyond those that consume my working day. I learned a long time ago that the gift is the seeing and one can appreciate a scene without constantly having to capture it on film.

But enough about me...if you enjoy and are satisfied with your current approach...then you are a blessed man. If you ever wonder about taking it to another level then I will be the first to tell you that you would not be wasting your time in pursuing different avenues. There is no question that you have the talent...the question for you is: 'Where do I want to go from here?'

Rory...I am going to have to insist that you stop posting these types of images.

I am afraid they are having the unwanted effect of making me close up shop and buy a one way ticket to Scotland.

Please...stop torturing me with these outstanding images.

You asked for advice on your images (whether you did or didn't doesn't matter...I'm going to give you some anyway). I suggest you put together perhaps 20 - 50 of your images and find some book publishers. Make an appointment and show them, show them, show them. Eventually somebody in a position of 'power' will recognize how good they are and have will point out a path for you which will result in their being published in one form or another.

Unfortunately these pictures aren't good enough for publishing, I wish. I need a better camera. I'm thinking seriously of going to college in the autumn to study Photoshop. I know pretty much the fundamentals of photography but I get lost in PS.

Here's another, this of Brodie Castle. You can't really see it but there were cars in the shot. Damn other people! Heh.

http://m1.freeshare.us/127fs4597750_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?127fs4597750.jpg)
Once you learn Photoshop those cars are 'out of here'.

It is notable that you share the fact you are thinking of pursuing Photoshop through some sort of course. I have arrived at exactly the same conclusion. I have been able to teach myself up to the point I am now at but conclude to progress any further I need instruction.

May I suggest that, in your position, it isn't necessarily a 'better camera' you need but rather one that allows you the option of capturing the images in RAW format. I think you would find that would go a long way in enabling you to produce images suitable for printing and display.

rorythedog
03-16-2007, 12:02 AM
Aye I do need RAW capability but even more than that I need the physically larger CCD that only an SLR provides. I'm looking at a Nikon D80 but the cost is frightening. I was always a Canon man but at my budget their SLR's fail in one crucial area...handling. The EOS 400 is simply too wee for my hands. I see Olympus are bolstering their range with a new line sporting Nikon bodies and Olympus software. These cameras are primarily aimed at portrait photographers. Strange beasts. The cameras obviously, not the photographers. Pentax have a really nice new SLR at my budget which is superior to all the competition...but it's a Pentax. I'm a snob. Actually, it's also a Samsung as both companies came together on this. The Samsung version, though identical in every important way, is actually £100 cheaper. Oops, there's that elitism again.

As for Photoshop, you're right again. I've got so far but there's a lot of stuff I can't get to grips with. I've spent so much on PS books I might as well have taken a degree. I need to SEE something done. Then I'll grasp it, hopefully.

That shot above is a prime example of how things can go belly up. At the time of editing I was really getting disillusioned with PS and so tried editing for a time with Paint Shop Pro. PSP is a lot easier to use but it's as if everything you attempt is carried out in a 'coarser' way. Previews are small too which doesn't help you pick up any errors before the point of no return. There's a clear difference in all my shots. I can tell at a glance what editor has been used. That shouldn't be. I suppose you get what you pay for, or not ;)

Aye I do need RAW capability but even more than that I need the physically larger CCD that only an SLR provides.

At the risk of stating the obvious:

Acknowledging the unescapable truth that it is impossible within the boundaries of this forum to fully appreciate all of the needs and nuances of ones wants and needs I would suggest that the physically larger CCD may not necessarily be as important as one might suspect. There are many different factors which work together to produce the final image. Final image is an interesting term in itself. What is a 'final' image to me may be totally different from the 'final' image you produce.

There is merit in deciding what you want as the final result and then working backwards from there.

I believe we discussed this site a while back, but just in case, I feel it is the ONLY site you need to help you decide which camera will supply the results you seek.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html

Personally, I feel there are a good number of 'Point and Shoot' Cameras which deserve close scrutiny...with perhaps CANON leading the way. Image quality is but one consideration...build quality is another.

I own the CANON PowerShot G6 (and the Wide Angle Lens Attachment) and it is superb for just about everything. Just about everything...I find the delay between shutter release and shutter open/close to be a source of frustration whenever photographing people...but that may well be influenced by my profession.

Pentax have a really nice new SLR at my budget which is superior to all the competition...but it's a Pentax.

A good friend of mine who has a studio down the hall from me bought a Pentax as his first digital camera...and he loves it. He is a travel photographer and after a trip to Bali for the Bali Travel Agency he decided he needed something that offered a few more options...primarily in the lens department. He purchased the NIKON D200 and traveled to India with it on a job for the India Travel Agency.

In comparing images from the two trips on a monitor it was virtually impossible to know which were which. As the images will be used by both agencies on their respective Web Pages...it doesn't really matter. However, the real distinguishing difference were the wide angle shots he was able to achieve in India using a SIGMA 12mm - 24mm lens.

In film based photography it was generally accepted as a fact that certain MINOLTA cameras were equal to if not superior to both NIKON and CANON. The difference came down to two main factors: 1. Wherever one went in the world you would be able to find a dealer who would rent you whatever NIKON or CANON lens you might require. MINOLTA were not set up to cater to Professionals in this manner. Remember...the Professional market is NOT where any camera manufacturer makes their money. 2. NIKON and CANON understand perfectly the same principal that has made APPLE's iPod a recognizable brand name icon worldwide.
advertise, advertise and advertise the product until it is a part of the language. People buy a iPod not so much for it's performance as the feeling that they are purchasing a 'safe' product acknowledged by many to be 'the best'....if you know what I mean.

There's a clear difference in all my shots. I can tell at a glance what editor has been used. That shouldn't be.

It is simply a fact that probably the most important application in the production of a 'final' image is the editor...and should be or not...there is a tremendous difference between various apps. It is little surprise after using Photoshop to know that virtually every Professional Photographer worldwide either uses Photoshop or is planning to do so soon.

:ponder:  I hear ya. Luckily for me hills and castles and shit don't care much about shutter delay

Here's a shot of a Doocot (or dovecot) in the north-east of Scotland. I was trying to make it kinda' moody but it only half-worked. It works pretty well in black & white but it would have been even better if it had been b&w to begin with. Choices...

Simply stunning. It contains a lot of 'mood' to me. I suppose you might have liked a darker more dramatic sky. You're entire life will be seeing the 'real' image in your mind...not the one the camera captures.:)

Let me ask you...why is it you feel you need a new camera? As long as I have been in this business I have NEVER heard ANYBODY look at an image and say: Wow...what a beautiful image. Too bad it wasn't taken with a NIKON or on AGFA film.'

I believe a good photographer can use whatever limitations a camera may exhibit to his/her advantage.

When I was documenting Havana I used a early 40's German ZEISS IKON flat bed camera with very limited shutter speeds and a non coated lens. I took those 'limitations' and rather than attempting to mask them I decided to accentuate them by using ILFORD DELTA 3200 PRO B/W film (120 format).

All display prints were enlarged to 16 x 16...and exhibit a quality that is striking in its originality and uniqueness. They have proved to be the best selling series I have produced...and among the 50 or so images that I show may actually contain some of the few images that I actually like.:) I am rarely satisfied...which is why I see a psychiatrist! (Who's going to rise to that bait? Let me quess... :ponder:

If you can create a unique 'look' to your work it can go a long way to developing a clientele that is not only interested in the work you are creating now but perhaps more interested in the work you will do tomorrow.

I tell you this in all honesty rory...you have an abundance of talent and I suppose if I was a 'motivational speaker' I would tell you to break free of whatever fears or limitations or self doubts you may have and do something with that talent. It is obvious to me that you have a passion and you love photography. The fact you have a natural eye elevates your work beyond most of those who label themselves a photographer when in fact they should do themselves and others a favour and find a new 'hobby.'

Agreed! No, seriously, I take pretty good photos but I really do need a better camera. I have an idea of what will suffice and what I produce now ain't it. IO need better optics and resolution. I take on board what you say about my 'talent' but I also remember our history. In fact, I never forget. Factor in an unhealthy dose of paranoia and you can see my predicament. I do have better mages, I'm just not sure how many people here give a... There I go again.

Haha, luckily I reaad that back to myself and realize it's twaddle. My biggest problem, by a mile, is my cameras lack of detail capture. Does my nut in, as we say around these parts.

I understand and in fact feel exactly the same way. Lenses should not be something you are purchasing every couple of years. Better to buy the best (or close to it) and be happy with the results for a decade or so.

I take on board what you say about my 'talent' but I also remember our history. In fact, I never forget.[

I never forget either, although my perception of events always 'mellows' and I can view things as 'pretty funny.'

I don't know what to say other than the fact that I truly am sincere. I look at your posts to me and in the back of my mind there is a little voice of caution. In the end perhaps we have a desire to communicate with each other in a friendly and respectful manner. It is always more interesting discussing politics with people whose views differ from your own. Difficult to learn anything if you just associate with people who have the same views as you do. Reading your posts forces me to sit back and think about the ideas you express. To consider a different perspective and incorporate those ideas that I find have merit and to sharpen my own thoughts when I feel I am right. If you know what I mean. I definitely find you a very interesting person and I, of course, am even a more interesting person!:)

You definately excell at these types of 'scenics/landscapes'.

If you don't want to knock on doors learn how to mount and frame...and when you have 20 - 30 prints create a disc containing those images and go around to galleys, coffee shops, upscale restaurants, corporations which have spacious lobbies etc. and see if someone would be willing to let you have space to hang them for a week to a month. To sell, of course. Galleries should actually be a last resort as some of them will want up to 60% of your sales. Most of the other places are just happy to have you hang your prints in their space because it adds something for them...not to mention a few more costumers.

I share your concerns about 'Birdman'. I'm kinda' attached to it because it was taken at the very far end of my zoom and I didn't really expect much. The doctorin' I've done is purely to mask the poor original quality. That kind of shot isn't really my cop of tea and you're bang on about the scenic aspects of my images. They're always my best. In Scotland, I have a perfect muse.

Can't really see me trawling round places getting someone to hang images. In fact I haven't managed one shot yet which I'd consider good enough for public consumption. Posting here's fair enough because no-one really knows me. I can live with that, lol.

Wouldn't it be nice to begin down a path that could lead to some public recognition and to 'forks in the path' that could lead to areas you never knew existed...not to mention making a return on your personal and financial investment. If you were to make some money selling your work that NIKON D200 may not seem quite so out of reach.

They also built this large 'glasshouse'. This being Spain of course there's no need for glass so it's just this huge frame. I love this kind of modern architecture.

Wow...that's some structure.

What I like most about this image (and there are many things to like) is the fact that it is 'off center'...a unique perspective as every image of this type is always right down the middle. I find it more interesting the way you have captured it.

Is there no spell check for these posts?

I went back to look at it and realized I wasn't seeing the entire image. I'm reasonably certain all the other images fit within my screen...so I didn't even bother looking on the bottom edge.

So there you have it. Looks great...but I also think it would have looked great a little off center.

You know, thats exactly the perception that I had,the picture, being off center, when I first looked at it to. Sounds strange but, when I first opened it, its larger than my screen. So, then I scrolled it back and forth, to see it at that size, It looked as though it was off center. Then resizeing, inside the screen, showed it as truly centered. I went backed to the original size and did it again. Ha, it seems an optical illusion, probably produced by the arches, at it's origanal size....(really cool)...and seems to go off center , left to right, as you scroll it back and forth.

Matter of fact, this one has been worked on each year it seems, for the last 25 years. Finally they are replacing the motor, gears etc. along with new decks for this draw bridge. One deck broke loose from it's barge a few week back when ice flow was immense. This delayed the finish date by three weeks. Now there is another issue(possibly this gap in the middle that's not closing), and it won't be complete before shipping season. MORE PROBLEMS! Ugh! What's new though. It's to be completed next Winter now. Ugh!
http://m1.freeshare.us/129fs4539057_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?129fs4539057.jpg)

This 30 year old bridge doesn't need to draw of course.

http://m1.freeshare.us/129fs4538634_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?129fs4538634.jpg)

This is a brand spanking new one is not yet in use. To be finished in the fall. It will bypass an older draw bridge that the interstate was using. Talk about traffic backups! So hopefully no more of that when it's done.

Yours;
Nice Plains look to it.

Mine;
It's called the Maumee River.
I think "Maumee" is muddy river in Native American tongue. Very fertile land around this area. But a lot runs off the farm fields and into this river, to add to the "already muddy bottom". There are areas that aren't so muddy as well as times of year that it isn't muddy as a whole. The Walleye fishing is very good around here.
Great Lakes' ships cruise up river a few miles through the Downtown, just to get to the ports.
Mainly Grain ports. A few other things, such as coal, steel, gravel.
Pretty boring other than that.
Some of you know of "The Anderson’s". A company that has input on grain prices. More recently, I predicted their stock going up since they are heavily into ethanol. I wish I had taken my own advice. Their stock went up since, over three fold. Since (http://seekingalpha.com/article/16921), they've come down a bit.

Nuff lessons!

Taken farther up stream. Closer to the Battle of FALLEN TIMBERS (War of 1812).
This first PIC is the rock where an old bridge was once used, and left to decay. The Indians called it Rock of Buffalo. (or Looks like Buffalo).
In French (and since stuck) it's called - "Roche de Boeuf", Well, at least the sign says this at the near by metro park I checked it out online here (http://www.watervillechamber.com/FestivalSignup.aspx) that the term is still used. You could sign up today! lol

Some nice shots there, especially the last one with the bike leading the eye. Nice.

Here's one of the Forth Bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forth_Bridge_%28railway%29) and the Forth Road Bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forth_Road_Bridge) taken from the Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry last autumn. There's loads of scaffolding on the rail bridge at the moment and they've just discovered the road bridge won't last much longer so they're building another road bridge alongside. The real star of course is the rail bridge. During construction it was the largest man-made iron structure in the world. Loads of guys died building it and the company wouldn't even pay for burials so they were all laid to rest in paupers graves. A tragedy. And an awesome structure.

Here's two 'experimental' images. The first is a night shot of the moon. Those are real stars. The streaks are passing cars. The second is a macro I've been playing about with. Macro's can be technically impressive but pretty boring from a purely graphic perspective so I've tried something different. I'd like to get better with macro photography seeing as my wife's a gardener. There's so many opportunities for great shots around here. Feel free to pour scorn, I can take it ;)

See what you think. It works best widescreen.

The only person you ever need to please is yourself. Everything else is simply a bonus.

Personally I have a strong dislike of photography being used to capture other forms of 'art'...especially statues. I feel that there is an abundance of subject matter around me so to focus on someone else's art is taking away from my own creative process.

I think I've explained it fairly well.

It is a personal belief...and I do not expect others to feel as I do. Of what little works of this nature I have seen this seems to be exceptional.

I owned a processing lab with a partner. Part of our business was renting darkrooms on an hourly basis. (Sort of like dungeons.) There was one photographer who only photographed statues, relief carvings (?) and Gargles (?). He made a pretty good living selling his B/W prints...so there is obviously a market for it.

Start thinking money rorythedog...after you make a few pounds a wave of inspiration will sweep over you and in no time at all that NIKON D200 (http://www.nikonusa.com/

template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25235) with a 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor (http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=2147) will be yours!

A good photography site is The Luminous Landscape (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/) which has a forum for NIKON users.

The trouble is these 'budget' cameras tend to be rather small in the hand and I don't like it. I have shovels for hands.

[/IMG]
I have two pieces of advice to give here: 1) NEVER PURCHASE A CAMERA YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH and 2) If you're resources are limited ALWAYS PUT THE LENS AHEAD OF THE CAMERA BODY.

The first advice is obvious. The second reasons that, in the end, it is ALWAYS the lens that takes the picture. By purchasing the best lens you can means you not only enjoy the benifits of a great piece of glass from the outset...but when you can afford the body you want you will then have a second body to back you up.

I know I said 'two pieces' of advice...but one more makes three. In todays market I really wouldn't worry about 'brand' names too much. You would probably have a more difficult time buying a 'bad' camera than a 'good' camera. Spend some time visiting better camera stores...get to know some of the people who work behind the counter...determine those who really know what they are talking about and those who are just bullshit sales clerks. Try to hold as many different bodies in you hands as you can. Ask the knowledgeable clerks about those models that you do feel comfortable with...eventually you'll come up with a body that feels great...after that put an ad in a newspaper and sell the TV and refridgerator. Don't tell your wife. Do it as soon as she leaves for work in the morning and then surpise her when she comes home in the evening.

I guarantee she'll be thrilled.

OK...if you don't want to sell the TV or the fridge...figure out a 'plan' that gets you the body that feels 'great in your hands'. You've waited this long...what's a little longer to get a camera that is 'right' for you?

Thanks for the advice and ordinarily I'd take it but it's slightly more complicated in the DSLR market. You're right of course about the lens being the all-important source but have you ever noticed there's a helluva big jump in price between the 'pro-sumer' market and the pro market? It's partly down to build but mainly it's sensor size. Pro cameras have a sensor between 1.5 and 2x the size of lesser DSLR's. This does place a limitation on the lens sadly as the smaller sensors found in cameras I can afford can't take advantage of the increased speed and resolution of more expensive optics.

Catch 22.

Actually I've pretty much decided on which one to go for.

I will probably get the Pentax K10D (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxk10d/). It gets great reviews and does everything I need it to. The only negatives I hear relate to firmware and apparently the latest update has it fixed. In some ways I'm fortunate as I don't have any legacy lenses, other than a few Canon FD's kicking around. If I'd had a large collection of recent Canon or Nikon lenses then I'd be stuck with them.

I used to feel that way but have now come to realize that it really isn't an either/or situation. (Not to imply that you said something which you very clearly didn't:nervous: :) ).

If you are prepared to work with a 120 film size I would suggest that you scour a lot of the camera shops that sale used cameras...or even pawn shops...and look for an older 'flatbed' type of camera. If you find a '40's ZEISS-IKON in good shape...GRAP IT.

Try to avoid 'Rangefinder Types'. The first ones were very primitive and wwaaayyyy off. Not to mention how much time you waste focusing and then applying that figure to the lens. Better to 'guessemate'...you will become quite proficient at it in a very short time. You are often able to find one in pretty good shape (you might want to take along a roll of film with you and if you find one you think is alright, ask the shop keeper if you could take a few shots outside his door and when he says OK...walk to the door, open it...AND RUN!:silly: ) Have the film processed...you don't really even need to have 'proofs' made...just look at the film with a loupe on a light table.

Should cost you no more than 6 Pounds.

Good luck.:)

I'm counting down the days for my smmer vacation.
Back to THE OUTTER BANKS North Carolina this year.
Man this cold weather currently here, is a bummer.
I'll get some PICs while there.
Hmmm. I have some from the last time I was there. Maybe I'll find them, scan some, post some.

http://www.outer-banks.com/

FYI: The narrow strand of barrier islands known as North Carolina's Outer Banks strings for more than 90 miles along the coast from Virginia's border south through Ocracoke and Portsmouth Islands. Bordered by bodies of brackish water on the west (known as "sounds") and by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, these fragile islands are accessible by plane, boat, or by driving over one of several bridges that provide links to the mainland. At the narrowest points, the islands are less than a half-mile wide, and in some areas, they extend out more than 20 miles east of the North Carolina mainland.

Last time there one of my Nieces kept getting stung by one of these.

On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

Softly smile, I know she must be kind

Don't worry, I will.

It's not meant to look too realistic. My camera isn't good enough for that so I cover up (or attempt to) some of the more obvious failings. In this image the original sky was flat gray, pretty much anyway. The trees on either side of the burn were gray. Everything was pretty much gray. With a tripod I could've stopped it down a bit and that would have helped the sky but it's windy and so the trees would have been a blur. It is what it is.

Not certain what you mean by 'having problems working with RAW'. Certainly not shooting RAW...so..once it is opened it can be worked on as any JPEG image.

To use video as an example...in some ways RAW is simply a 'container' holding a lossless picture file. When you open the container you now have a TIFF file to work on.

Also FYI, I was using digital zoom for most all of my PICs. I was surprised how unblurry they were (is that a word?). I had to be steady. But I'll never win any awards that way!~

In the first I'm laying on the floor looking up about 40 feet (sorry I don't know the metric conversion) the second is the inside of the cathedral. The 3rd is my cat having trying to have a snooze.

Hehe, cool
All my animals (well in teen-adult years) have been rescued.

I don't have any pets right now :(

Nice flowers there. I was at a flower show yesterday where they had a large display of daffs. I was amazed to see just how many varieties exist.

Here's a shot I took outside the hockey rink the show was held in. This building stands in the middle of a new retail and leisure park, you know the kind of thing - every drive-through known to man and a multiplex cinema. Why this building still stands I have no idea.

Bought myself a spanking brand new Digital Camera Friday and decided to go out yesterday with both my CANON and the new BELL.

First I should tell you a few things about the BELL:

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs802764_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs802764.jpg)

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs803061_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs803061.jpg)

What's included: Mini Digital Camera, Carry Case, USB cord, Sortware, AAA Battery and Instructons.

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs80342_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs80342.jpg)

The BELL Mine Digital Camera doubles as a keychain...or...the BELL Keychain doubles as a Mini Digital Camera...it's two things in one!

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs803627_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs803627.jpg)

Here's a front close up view.

And finally...here's a view of the camera with the 'viewfinder' in the raised position and ready to go.

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs804046_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs804046.jpg)

Interested in how it performs?

I knew you were which is why I decided to take it along with my CANON for a couple of hours in my neighbourhood.

The BELL has a 1/4 inch CMOS Image Sensor and a storage memory size of 16Mb SDRAM. t has a self-timer, continuous shot mode, compressed mode,non-compressed mode, videp function mode, High resolution non-compressed function (20 images) and a Low resolution non-compressed function (83 images). In compressed mode you can shoot 60 images in High resolution and 243 images in Low-resolution. The lens has an apterture of f2.8. Exposure mode and White balance are both automatic and the shutter speed works between 1/60th of a second and 1/500th of a second.

Enough tech talk...how do the images look?

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs81334_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs81334.jpg) http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs806593_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs806593.jpg)

Can you tell which is the CANON and which is the BELL. Take your time.
If you choose the one that is on the right as the CANON...you'd be wrong. That's the BELL. See what happens when you don't have a colour corrected lens?

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs813698_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs813698.jpg) http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs814149_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs814149.jpg)

Now that I've given away the 'colour' aspect of the BELL it is easy for you to tell which is which. I put these images together because I discovered when I returned to the studio and downloaded the images (no way to review them in the field) that I tended to shoot 'up' a lot with the BELL. I'm sure that time and experience will eliminate this problem

One more image...as that total's 5.

http://m1.freeshare.us/137fs807749_th.jpg (http://m1.freeshare.us/view/?137fs807749.jpg)

Sugar Storage Elevators.

So there you have it.

Now I bet you're all wondering just how much does something so good cost? $200? $300? $400? You might think so but it you act right now this amazing Keychain Mini Digital Camera is just $40.00 retail. But hey...if you go to Canadian Tire Big Box store this amazing engineered little gem is yours for just $14.99.

Personally...in just one day I had more than my $14.99 worth of fun.

Hey...if it breaks...you still have a keychain.

Sweet.

Perhaps I should have mentioned why this camera exists.

Apparently you are to keep it in your glove compartment so that if you are ever involved in a car accident where you kill somebody (or not) you can pull the camera out and take lots of photographs of the scene for your family album...and possibly for the police (to prove your innocence) or your insurance company (to prove where the damage occurred).

I do not believe for one moment they anticipated me.

well...it doesn't suck. What it really needs is a naked woman starting a climb up one of the tree trunks. (Wouldn't matter which one...in fact...really wouldn't matter if she was climbing or not.:silly: )

Check your 'features'...you have an option to shoot exposures which are one under, one on, and one over.

I personally still believe that a hand held meter (http://www.sekonic.com/products/products.asp?ID=4) should be a part of any serious photographers camera bag. This is one of the three I use. Very good.

Yeah I always bracket my shots when I'm using a polariser, as here. I go 2 stops either way but this camera is very consistent. It doesn't really matter as much with this kind of shot as I can always under-expose and recover the shadows in Capture NX. Have I mentioned Capture NX yet? Awesome program.

Now just take what you have there. Providing you have the right amount of pixels, and focus on your shot. We could crop some of the fluff outta there, and enhance this bird for a better shot. It takes time, and practice, plus a better zoom for birds! lol:grin: Here is a cropped but no enhancement first, then enhancement. Notice, you can really see the little squares in the photo. The guy's a legend around here mate. The local museum had a year long exhibition devoted to AC/DC last year. Every weekend we were in town we'd see these obviously foreign looking guys wearing leathers and looking lost.

This is one of the coolest F*CKing things I have seen in a long time. I saved it out and it's now my desk top!

The sad thing is most people think AC/DC are British. Well maybe not sad but something.

Got to say when Bon Scott signed out AC/DC finished for me. Credit to Brian Johnson cos he's done a good job but Bon wus dirty! I really liked that. Same goes for Iron Maiden too. Bruce Dickinson is a good rock singer but Paul Di'Anno had something else.

Any of you PS wizards know how I could clean up that 'stain' on the left of this image? Buy you a beer if it can be fixed ;)

Fixed to a high degree using only paint.net

What i did was to simply select that region and copy it in another layer and adjust the contrast and lightning. I removed the shadows that appeared at the edges.

They have a street in Melbourne named after them called ACDC Lane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACDC_Lane,_Melbourne).
The band filmed the music video for "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" on Melbourne's Swanston Street. ACDC Lane is near Swanston Street.

There can't be too many rock 'n' roll songs with pipes in them eh? Bon used to play the pipes and in fact that's what his mum hoped he'd get into. Music being such a wholesome activity, lol.

Nice. Back in drab!

EDIT: I'm having trouble with Youtube taking my video. Maybe it's the copyright audio he-he.(I'll have to change that soon - maybe).
Try this (http://media.putfile.com/Rockin-Robin-the-GIT) one...
May take an hour or so to go through processing at Youtube. So visit back if it says not available.

I must leave you now to go change oil in three lawn mowers. Busy today scheduled ahead of me. Power washing some things around my home, etc.
Good Day all!
Oh yeah, My daughter...

About 800 feet. Actually a sheer drop. Not for the faint-hearted.

Nice house you have there. Lousy weather you have there.

Here are some pictures when I lived in Olando Florida before and after hurricane Charley. Charley lasted from August 9th to August 14th. The first of is Lake Margaret Drive, the road my wife and I lived on. The rest are from my drive home through downtown Orlando when the storm was coming in.
ENJOY!

My wife and I moved to Orlando Florida in June of 2004, in August of 04 we had our first of 4 hurricanes, Charley August 9th of 2004, then there was Frances August 25th 2004, then there was Ivan. Ivan hit us twice. It came to shore on September 2nd went back out to sea, then came back in on September 23rd. In between the times Ivan came in and out there was Hurricane Jeanne on the 14 of September.
Here are some pics

That's so cool. I remember walking out of my house once (not because of a noise or anything) and seeing the Goodyear Blimp (http://www.goodyearblimp.com/) directly overhead. No pictures though.
