I'm not much of a skinner at all unfortunately. What really gets my goat is that we have all these great new resizeable skins, but skins need to be re-developed to allow them to be resizeable.
I would LOVE to have some skins like Soma, Chameleo and PRiZM with resizeable playlists. Is there any way that you can create an _optional_ ability to apply the resizeable aspects to an older skin?
Maybe assume the bottom right of the playlist to be the mouse target? And maybe the very middle of the width and height to be made resizeable?
Anyone understand what I'm after?????? Anyone?

Hmmm i think this option wouldn't work on 99% of skins... its really up to the skinners themselves to integrate the new resizability option into their existing skins...
expect a lot of skin submissions with resizable extensions on the website when this current dev build goes final... until then, post some requests, and ya never know, some might be posted on the forums...
You know, I've been thinking about trying to update an old skin or two myself. How do you people (specificly skinners) feel about someone posting an update of a skin they didn't create? Obviously I wouldn't try to pass it off as my own original creation, I'd probably keep the original skin info intact + a little note like "skin updated for resizability by Toe" or something.

Well, it would be great to maybe start a thread with requests for skins to be updated. With the designer's permission of course!
I was thinking more along the lines of an addition to the next QCD build to add the functionality automatically by making certain assumptions about all skins.
If we're going down the manual route, I'll start:
Chameleo
Blip
iTunes
Prizm
Soma
and soooooo many more!

This is a very interesting thread.
For iTunes and soma, the nature of the graduated texture used in the body of the skin would make it either impossible of too difficult to do well. I am currently thinking about doing an update to chameleo which will have resizing.
However, the interesting thing would be for someone to create a skin resizing program that would take an "old" skin and produce a new version that would resize based on input from the user about where to draw the resize lines and position of resize button.
Anyone up for this?

I just updated chameleo (v1.5) to include the resize feature. Should be on the Skin Download section soon. BTW, the method used to create the resizing is brilliant - easy to use and to modify existing skins if the layout of the playlist allows it.

Good point. I just tried it on v4.11 and the resize button does not skin. I'm sure Paul will know what to do.

Paul has mentioned somewhere that all the skins that use the new features in the dev build won't be posted on the skins page until the next release.you can post them in the development threads.

I would like it if the Summertime skin could be upgraded to be a more resizeable skin for Windows 98 SE or Windows 2000 ,or Windows XP. However, I do like this skin overall, and I think that their is room for improvement in the future. :p :p :p :p
