Problem with update queue

I submitted an update to the accompanying text for a plugin (no files were changed), when I saw that this was queued, I tried to delete it since I would need to make another change very soon. (Shouldn't there be a way of updating the text without going through the queue?) The delete link produced a confirmation box and then the page was reloaded but the queue item was still there. I tried this a couple of times with same results.

Shouldn't there be a way of updating the text without going through the queue?

I'd imagine it eliminates the possibility of profane descriptions.
