View Full Version : Development Build 112
OK, things were taking a long time so I had to make a call. Get a new build out now with less, or wait another couple weeks. Of course, I chose the former. I'd prefer to get builds out more than once a month, but right now that seems to be the pace.
So with that said, this build hopefully fixes some of the big stuff and adds little things like proper Watch Folder support and Win64 icon support.
The Development Guides I mentioned would be part of 112 are not ready yet. Still revising.
Cheers,
Paul

It is not stated in the version history. Does Watch Folders watch the Play Queue or the Media Library?
EDIT: OK. It appears that it is the Play Queue and the Media Library. I removed QCDWatch.dll.

That's more a request for a pitch/tempo DSP plug-in though... The ones for Winamp should work.

I haven't tried any of the development builds yet but I have a question to Paul: considering the features you are planing on implementing how would you rate your progression so far, in terms of features, if at all possible of course (halfway done? more than that?)
Also are the dev build stable enough for daily use or do they still crash frequently?
Thanks u all, and keep up the good work ;)

I think many people, myself included, would say yes.
I'd be interested in hearing what else needs to be finished? Just the outstanding bugs, developer documentation...?

Depends on the build, and on your setup. b111 was good for me, but b112 has been kinda cruddy for me. It might be the opposite for you, though. One way to find out. :)

I had a lot of trouble getting b112 to work - nonstop crash after installation - but after installing to a different location and removing playlist stuff and almost giving up, I got it working. I know I know I should post a bug report: I was going to, but it was difficult to know what to write.

b112 doesnt crash here. Only occasionally. I do lose the Media Library inexplicably from time to time.

Will the final release of QMP be within this lifetime? Or should I write a hidden letter to my 8 year old kid to wait for it? Hehe.
This is the best PC-Audio player i've ever used, but the slow pace is so disappointing. You don't owe me nothing so I have no right to complain, but I just hope no one dupes this superb piece of software and run away with it.
Goodluck. Guess, I'll be on iTunes for now. Till then...
PS: The TagEditor is what I like most about this Player.

if you take a look at the version hostory Paul releases something almost monthly.
Hi all, I was on vacation for the last two weeks so I could not address any issues. I was hoping b112 would solve everyone's issues and be a software panacea, but it seems that did not come to fruition. So I'm back now, working on 113.

We hope you had a good time! But you are right b112 didnt quite work out for many of us. It's only the ML so you shouldnt have to rewrite a whole lot of code (i hope) :)

b112 has been really nice to me. b111 crashed ALL the time and i'd lose my library everytime i'd do some sort of demanding task. the only issue i'm having is figuring out the watch feature.
First, the library doesn't seem to like it when i move/rename folders. It doesnt seem to update in real-time. Then, when i've got the library watching, the playlist seems to stop adding files automatically. can both features be combined into one? like maybe instead of having two sections where you change watch settings, just have one? or am i just doing something stupid (a real possiblity).
overall though, QMP is absolutely divine. thanks!

I also think that the B112 Media Library has been more stable. Although I cannot say that I have given it a big workout.
Yes. I am expecting Paul to say that nothing was changed in the Media Library with B112. :silly:

I've perfected the art of deleting my whole library, closing QMP, and re-adding all of my files. The easiest thing to do even if I just edited or moved a few files.

I have lost the contents of my Media Library once with B112 when using with an iRiver H10.

With B112 when I try and play a song it's blocked, when I load a playlist the first track plays about 5 seconds and then the player crashes/closes.
This doesn't happen in 111 though (which I'm forced to use now) .. so it seems a lot less stable for me

More summer holidays? Last time we didnt know as well until Paul returned from vacation. It would be nice if he could just drop a post on the front page or in a thread here on his progress and whereabouts, nothing personal, just saying "I'll be out for a couple of weeks, if there is anything you wish to ask contact him or him."

Down the hatch!
Of course if I was stranded with Evangeline Lilly I wouldn't be looking to leave anytime soon either.
he was here about 8 hours ago. :carrot:
Hi everyone! Sorry I/we haven't been around more lately, but I am glad that you are all still coming by. QMP is still being worked on as often as possible, and a new build is nearing. The SDK docs, in whatever state they are in, will be available with this build too. And Matt is working on the website too (on a staging server), but that won't be out for a couple months. So there is a lot going on, just hard to make it all come together and still look professional :). And as some where speculating above, the plugin/skin moderation is manually done and I have been passing/failing the uploads. I don't test everytime (lazy) so sometimes a bad upload gets by me. No there is no script passing things after a duration.
Also, I've spent more time with my other passion - cars. I'm big into the Nissan 300zx and have been giving mine lots of love lately. There's a large community around them and it's just plane fun to tweak these machines. Planning out future updates on top of what I have so far - things such as ECU updates, bigger turbos, downpipes... When I hit around 400hp I'll prob slow down on it. Anyone else here a gear head?
Anyway, I hope to be around once I kick B113 in the pants a little more.

Eh..
Paul, not a serious gear head, but hope to go to motopark in Grand Bend this weekend to watch some serious horse power. Some of the top fuelers hit 2000 + h.p. and the drivers are exposed to more "g",s than the space shuttle astronauts on their return into the atmosphere. At the start line, when they first accelerate, the percussion is so great it makes your eyeballs vibrate. By the time you regain focus, they are about a quarter way down the track. Awsome..
Oh...On 113. Would it be rash to ask..um..Sept..um....Seriously, hope its going well.
