MiniDisc

Hey all.... i'm back from my xmas hiatus / ISP wohs. Lots to catch up on, but i wanted to quickly ask a question...

Anyone out there have a MiniDisc player? If so do you like it? I want to get an mp3 player/music player that doesn't suck and isn't 7 million dollars (note exaggeration). I was recommended getting a minidisc player...

thoughts? recommendations?

i had a sony but didnt like it. the discs were kind of expensive at the time, but that may have changed since then. I switched to cd player that plays mp3 cd-r's.
i even use mini-cd's sometimes for it.

Get a good walkman that plays MP3 files on CD-RWs...

but they are large... mini discs are appealing because of their size.

personal preference, i'd just get an mp3 player. i own a rio cd player that plays mp3's and wma's, and that works fine, but you're right - it is a bit large.

i think in over 10 years of working in the audio electronics biz i can only remember 2 or 3 people that were serious about miniDisc. it was a decent enough concept in its conception, and in truth i don't know what 'innovations' have occurred since then, but i think the mechanics and the proprietary nature of it turns me off somewhat.

but i can tell you that the one guy i know that actually owns one absolutely loves it tho.
