diskwriter plug-in?

I am sure that someone can tell me what the diskwriter plug-in does.....is this a burning plug-in or does it just convert files to wave? Any help would be appreciated..

Diskwriter converts mp3's to wave. I haven't used it yet, but if it's anything like the diskwriter plugin in Winamp, it takes all mp3's you load in and converts them to wave all at once with no audio output.
