Hey guys. Just wondering if this special day affects you in any way. Like a day off or joining the protest marches on the streets. :)
Here in the Netherlands it's not a really public thing compared to what i see what's going on in the USA with all the immigrants (legal + illegal) stop working for one day and the protests in Russia, Indonesia and Asia in general and places. I didnt have a day off either. 5 May we do, when we celebrate freedom, because 5 May marks the end of the german occupation in the Netherlands after WWII.
WHAT?

Labour day is the correct translation :)
but many countries decide to celebrate it differently (and we Dutchies do not celebrate Labour day, because Queens day is too close to it (30 April)) :) 2 celebrations would have been too much. (3 if you count our Liberation day, though that is only an official celebration once every 5 years)

See WikiPedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day) for Labo(u)r Day/May Day.
I like Wikipedia. I learned that it takes three sheep to make a sweater. That is so impressive. I did not even realize that sheep could knit!

No holiday for me either although bizarrely most of my customers WERE on holiday. An easy day for me. :silly:
