Greetings audiophiles. Got a couple questions I didn't find answers to in Search for anyone familiar with Winamp. Hope you can help. :)

Currently, I'm a Winamp user (2.91 > 5). I found QCD (again) after reading that the program uses 60% less sys resources ( ) than my program so I decided to give it a try. I have music playing constantly especially while playing MMOGs (but not in single-player games) so I was looking to increase my performance and thus I end up here.

I love that QCD uses less than 3mb while playing audio streams when Winamp uses 10+. Needless to say I'm impressed. After hopping around the skins files for awhile, I finally found a couple thin enough to sit at the top of my screen without extending past my title bar (very important). More unobtrusive skin recs welcome.

Now, my questions: I really, really miss the Bookmark feature from Winamp that allows me to add a streaming file (Add current as bookmark) and edit its title in a separate window (Edit bookmarks...). I have accrued quite a list of favorite stations (my main listening) and have found QCD very cumbersome in its ability to add and save streams as playlists. Perhaps I'm just doing something wrong.

Also, is there a way to display the output quality in QCD (128, 96, 64, etc.)?

If you're familiar with Winamp's Bookmark feature and have some tips on how best to input and organize my favorite streams now and future, please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

"Elephant is a 'favorites' plugin for QCD, with a twist. Like any elephant, it remembers stuff... but this Elephant remembers more than you think. Elephant's menu sits quietly inside QCD's main menu, keeping your favorite streams, playlists and programs (CD burner, encoder...) within reach. It also includes support for restoring a playlist after accidental deletion or a crash. "

That may be what you are looking for. As for displaying output quality, it's there! But may be skin dependent (default skin definitely shows output quality)

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply, Rex. I'll give it a try! :)

Try the traycontrols plugin which will create a QCD toolbar (like Quicklaunch) with customiseable controls and display. I find it very useful. :)

the arizona skin probably takes up the least space of any other skin
