Post your funny/imaginative/interesting photos here. Posting of your own photos is encouraged rather than ripping them from some website.

I was making close ups of a synthetic rock sample i am using for an experiment to see how sharp the image could be at just a couple centimetres away from the lens. Then for no particular reason i took this picture. Looks pretty artistic doesnt it? :)

Hind-site it was just the sun!:cheeky:Wow!

This is really using your eye to great creative advantage. This is a perfect example of what I was saying earlier...it is all about the image. When you have a great image nobody cares what you shot it on.

I know by what I speak...I once took a photo through the front windshield while driving at night in the pouring rain. It is a good image to begin with as it is something we all experience but never see frozen in time as a photograph.

Your image is even greater as the image captured in the mirror is an image which would have stood on it's own merit.

Good imagination, WHAT?

I'm looking at it again and can't help but think that is some lens you have there. To fill the entire frame with the mirror and at the same time have everything more or less focused...quite a technical feat!

I was thinking of having a thread started entitled, "Shots seen on the way to your daily destination" Or "Daily PICs". Pictures of sights you see upon your way to work, school, or where ever you go regularly. Excluding the bathroom cough cough "regularly". arr arr.

Ro bearI am not clear on all the precise details (I never am) but there was a photographer who, on his way to work in the morning, stopped to take a photograph at the same intersection for 20 years...give or take 15.

Now that I think about it...perhaps I saw it in a movie. Nevertheless, an interesting concept.

It was Harvey Keitel's presence that convinced me...I believe he was the one taking the photographs.

A good film as I remember t.

Nice idea. Goddamn I took a photo at an intersection on the way to work, but pretty sure it was off to the right - off to the left there is a Toyota car yard which has since been upgraded. Would have been nice to have a before and after shot.
Sniff.

There is a local artist, who turns his art into a business of clay molding.
He comes up with his original, then makes reproductions and sells them for such uses as garden-art for the yard. I've even seen them in homes, on walls, etc. He does little birdbaths and the like. But having them displayed together is a real sight to behold.
Risking being thought of as a copy-cat-competitor, I was browsing through his quaint little store the other day and saw a cool angle that I wanted to share. I had my camera on me since there was also a heritage festival going on outside. Parade, people, food, DRINK:beer: etc.

...only in that it brings up a question.
Have you ever seen a crop-killing flower (plant)?

I found a whole bunch of these vining wave petunias climbing up a field of corn.
Someone must have planted this flowering plant near the roadside (this year-last year?) and they have multiplied, and grown into the field and up the stalks. You can see one of them hunched over from the weight!

Weird that it (http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/propagation_seed_starting/109549) hasn't been around long. Hopefully it doesn't become a nuisance! Well at least it makes for a pretty corn field!

They look very remote places. I don't think I have seen such remoteness.
Or are the photos misleading? :paranoid:With the exception of one image...no...they are not misleading. It is a question that really has no easy answer. As a photographer In my personal work I believe there is a illusive quality I look for and when I find that quality I photograph it. It is somewhat significant to me that I was 3/4 of the way to Frisco and had not taken one image. I remember thinking to myself how strange it would be to return to Toronto not having taken my camera out of it's bag. It seemed like a very real possibility.

Once I hit Colorado though, things quickly changed. For someone who lives in the city such majestic vistas of open spaces and expansive sky's which stood frozen in time and which I would view but for an instant...inspired me to pull the camera out and think about how best to capture it in all it's pulchritude.

The real treat for me was taking Hwy. 50 on the return route. I doubt I will ever forget that feeling of being one of the only two people who existed in the Universe. The two images below show the Hwy looking forward and backward. I believe the best of the images were taken on the journey back. The last images taken (with one notable exception) were of the General Store, Street light and Haunted House in Eureka, Nevada. After having experienced all that the trip had to offer to that point...the gentle rolling landscape of Kansas...as pretty as it was, just didn't measure up to what I had left behind.

I did do some 'night' photography in either the old warehouse area of Kansas City or St. Louis (I really cannot remember which)...and again the images strive to capture the remoteness and abandonment of a time which is no longer. Somehow all of this intrigues me and allows me to learn things about myself.

Although I am adept at a wide range of work, I am most recognized as a Portrait Photographer and more importantly it is, in the final analysis, how I view myself. It is not too surprising to me that whenever I travel there are very few images of people in my photos.

Thanks for asking.

Remember me asking you (not long ago) about some old film I have? I would like it developed.
Here is a PIC of what I have, and one close to what I have(but it doesn't have the knob on the ends like mine). Anybody know what I actually have?
It only says... Panchromatic exposed (GUIM).
I see a couple of places that say they will develop film of any kind for a price. This is pretty old, so I'm hesitant to send it out. I don't know what to classify it.

Apsana Giri, 26, a graduate student in biology from Katmandu, Nepal, and Sweety Mazumdar, 25, a graduate student in geology from Calcutta, India.

My daughter is also going to Chicago on a similar trip. The thought "This could have been her", was going through my mind. Hope they will have better sense then to travel in that kind of weather. My daughter wears a seatbelt. She's not the rebellious or defiant type. She's a pretty smart cookie!
My son went back to school in some of this light stuff, but made it back OK! School starts today already for him.

We missed most of that heavy white stuff here that you got there. Rained mostly prior to the coldest part. 3, 4 inches is all. It's supposed to warm up here after the weekend. 50 F or so. Should melt it all!

Your camera is like mine, in that it takes way better day pictures than low light.
I like that same shot pics thing going on... day/night!

Hey, did you hear about those students killed in the auto accident (http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080103/NEWS02/801030438/1025/rss02) from BGSU? They were coming back from Chicago on a field trip.

I like that same shot pics thing going on... day/night!

Yeah, I heard about those students. Sounds like they were not buckled in in. Orland is about 50 miles east of me.
glad you didn't have to do a big dig. I shoveled the drive 4 times in 24 hours. i'm exhausted. still!.
My wife's idea about the same pics. she is the creative one, and a published photographer!
