View Full Version : Drag from QCD playlist window issue?

I am getting a strange behaviour that I did not have before.

One of the features that I really like in QCD is the abillity to drag tracks from the playlist window into other applications. I have been using QCD and Nero together like this for ages.

Today I tried to do this, and bith QCD and Nero (5.5.10.54 and .50) freeze up when I drag multiple files into Nero. I can drag the same tracks from QCD into explorer and I can drag the same tracks from Explorer into Nero, but not from QCD into Nero.

What is strange is that when QCD and Nero freeze up, if I terminate Nero, then QCD also terminates.

Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

Unfortunately I have done some other stuff since I last used QCD and Nero in this way, such as upgraded QCD to 4.1, tried out Nero 6 then downgraded to 5.5.10.54 and then .50, and also installed iTunes which installs it's own Gear CD burner. So these other factors may be the cause of this behaviour.

I've been burning CD's with QCD and Nero like you for ages and I'm using the latest version of both and I can't reproduce your problem.

blame it on iTunes :)

Yeah... maybe iTunes corrupted your drivers or something.

I think the problem is caused when a bad playlist is loaded into QCD. I was using an interpreter to convert iTunes XML playlists into m3u playlists which I now know was corrupting some playlist filenames. QCD appeared to load & play the converted m3u playlists OK, it was just when trying to drag it out of QCD that the problem occured.

I haven't tested iTunes. It created a big fuss when it started, but didn't impress me. Anyways, your problem is only when you use a "translated" m3u playlist from iTunes? I wonder if you can drag&drop from iTunes to QCD, then you can save the playlist and burn it to Nero or you have it solved already?

No. iTunes or rather Apple, will not let you drag from or even save as an m3u file, because only a non MusicStore buying dirty, smelly and untrustworthy, P2P sharer would want to do such a criminal thing.

I only report the QCD issue here because importing an m3u file that is corrupt by pointing to a non existant file, appears to upset QCD in some way.
