View Full Version : How do you test the new builds?

I've been using QCD since B3.52. In the past, I've downloaded the latest version, copied all my plugins and skins from my current version to the new one, and just let it fly. After being on this site for some time now, I realise that this may not be the proper way to test a new version. What do all of you guys and gals usually do when a new build comes out? (I always keep the last stable version to use.) Do you first test it with no added plugins and skins? Do you load your favorite stuff in and see if they cause conflicts? Or do you have a particular procedure in the addition of each plugin or skin? This time, I'm holding off on b66 until I can get some input on the best way to test this one out the right way. Sorry if this is a long-winded question, but I feel it's time I had some relevent input to this group on the good points and the faults of any new versions.

I always install right on top of the old version and never have problems. B66 is very stable, not a single critical bug has been reported. You should try it.

Same here. In QCD we trust!

Its the same here. I have always been installing on top of the old install and just running the newest development build. Never a problem... This is the first time I have kept a release installation and Im only doing it to test my plugins on the old one. I'll never use it besides that.
So go ahead. Jump in the fire! :)

Install right over top too. then try to incorporate any skinning changes into current skin project.....usually. that damn port is my current guinea pig though this time. the way things are working out i might just update all three families for the hell of it. there were instances i wasnt quite happy with.
with all the new options available it looks like all those "instances" will be fixed.

Wow! Thanks for all your replies. In the past, I've done clean installs on all the new devs, and kept at least one stable release on my desktop as a backup. Actually, I still have a number of older versions stored both here and at home (why? I have no idea :) ). What I will do, this time, is a clean install of b66 at work, check it out, and slowly add my skins and plugins. If it's as stable as you all say, I'll also check it out on my home box.

I just install over it. No need for a previous version. :)
