Mine went down yesterday at the exact time that I decided to delete all my cookies and temp files. I thought something happened to my computer. I tried doing a restore and my stupid computer would not let me do that either. I have been working on this computer ever since. Anybody have any idea why XP could not do a restore? This is the first time I have tried to do a restore on this computer and it says each time I try that it can not restore to that date. I tried a bunch of different dates with the same result.

Try creating a restore point now and then reboot and try to restore to that point. Does that work?
go to "Control Panel\Performance & Maintenance\System" and click on the "System Restore" tab.
Is it switched on? How large is the reserved space?

I have 2 drives. System restore is turned on and monitering. Reserved space for c is 5% (5614MB). for d reserved space is 12% (4581MB) I created a restore point earlier today. I will try it and let you know.

No, it will not let me restore to the restore point I created 3 or 4 hours ago. Every day of the month is darkened like it's supposed to be but after I click on any of them after rebooting it says Windows can not restore this computer to this date. Please select another date.

Is your C drive your system drive? i.e. does it contain the Windows installation? If so I'd give it the full 12%.
I do hope your system's clean and that this isn't a spyware related issue (...doesn't sound like it). If it is clean then you might try this...
Go to "Control Panel\Performance & Maintenance\System" and click the "System Restore" tab. Turn OFF system restore. Click OK. Reboot.
When it's rebooted go back into the applet above and ENABLE system restore. This automatically should create a restore point to work from. Obviously this has wiped any previous restore points. Since it didn't seem to work I think you might as well go this way.
Good luck.
You could also try here.

Turn off system restore, reboot then turn it back on. You will lose all your restore points, but future restore points should now work.

...when? Tomorrow?:cheeky: :)
jawpr...you can't do this man. Don't you know what's happening?
All of us are glued to our screens waiting to see your next post! As it is now New Years Eve and some of our wifes/girlfriends/mistresses (pick 2) would like to go out and party...we can't just continue to sit around waiting.
So DO IT already...and let us know what happened.
Inquiring minds want to know.;) :silly: :)

Think yourself lucky you can get out to party. We've been snowed-in since yesterday. Luckily I got the booze in last week.
There should have been a winking smilie here but of course Acushla's used them all up.

We should think of a official title for our 'Computer Go To Guy' here in the QUINTESSENTIAL player forum.
Any suggestions? (Be nice.)
PS Just curious...how did this end up in 'Website Bugs' and not 'Computer Is(s)ues'?
