Stand up for Canada, vote Conservative or... stand up for criminals, vote Liberal! Your choice!
Mr. Martin, I want my money back!!!
Could not agree with you more.

I could never in good conscience turn the government of one of the more enlightened countries in the world over to a bunch of homophobic, bigoted Republican wannabe rednecks.
Furthermore, I have absolutely no desire to see this country become the 51st State.
That's about as politely as I can put it.

I agree with you...on your first point a personal conviction on behalf of Harper will NEVER become law. I mean really...think about it...I do not view a conviction of this nature a character flaw. Laying in wait with a baseball bat to express that view, well, yes, certainly THAT is a character flaw.
As becoming a 51st State...this is just so much rhetoric and 'sound bite' it is simply...ridiculous. This is one time I would state that Canadians WOULD wake up and rise up and rebel in whatever way is necessarily to prevent such a scenario. Besides...what makes you think that the US would even want us?
If you want to talk about a real issue, how about the erosion of health care and the real possibility that if the Liberals are in power long enough we will in fact be the 51st State. Health care is far more important to me than one man's view on whether or not gays should be allowed to use the word 'marriage'. Under Harper health care is a number one priority...meaning that not only is it safe but a lot of what has been lost will be put back.
The fact of the matter is that the Liberal government systematically stole in excess of $380,000,000 over a 10 year period. When caught they gave back $500,000. They are arrogant, no apology...they act as if they were born to rule us and partake in all sorts of underhanded/slight of hand techniques to further their cause...not ours.
When faced with the prospect of a election they spent more money in a week than any government before. I do need to explain to you what they are really buying with our money.
My final point is this: if this scenario was carried out by ENRON...or the CIBC, or Air Canada...there wouldn't be any question about criminal charges and jail time. It is a question of ACCOUNTABILITY...something the Liberals seem to have been able to side step.
In regards to Martin I will allow this...I did not like him, not so much because of who he is but because of his association with the Liberal Party. My contention has always been that: if Martin as Finance Minister during the reign of Cretian, had involvement with the transfer of monies...then he should resign. If he didn't have any knowledge of the transfer of funds, then he should resign as it indicates he was incompetent. $380,000,000 in 10 years and you are the Finance Minister and you knew nothing about it? It makes me cry. However, the times I have seen him speak on the International stage I will readily tell you that I am impressed. Impressed, but not to the extent that I simply ignore everything else. The truth is that I feel Harper would be one of the best Statesman that Canada has produced for a very long time. He suffers from that media 'image' persona that seems to count for so much these days, the same way Robert Stanfield suffered from lack of media 'presence'. A true loss for Canada...the man was brilliant. I feel that if Harper is given the chance (which I doubt very much he will be given) that he would surprise many Canadians who have simply blindly accepted the proclamations of a man so in fear of losing his political position that he points across the floor and proclaims Harper as the Devil who will give us a Canada that we wouldn't recognize...not a Canada that Canadians want. If that is true then I guess what we want is the most corrupt and dishonest government this nation has ever known. I will tell you this in no uncertain terms...THAT IS NOT THE CANADA I WANT. I am beginning to understand how men decide to express their patriotism by actively warring and subverting corrupt governments that rule them. Not that we are at that point...yet.
ACCOUNTABILITY Roj...if you don't know what it means then look it up.:)
