:cheerful: Would it be possible to give QMP the ability to save / backup settings to a file? This would make it simpler to install QMP on a newly formatted PC or on another PC. :cheeky:

All versions of QCD (and QMP) use an .ini file for settings. Check for QCD.ini or QMP.ini in the install folder.

Copying QMP 104 to another system should work. You will need to manually register the QMPShellExt.dll to get icons working, and the the CDRipping driver won't be installed, but the CD code should be able to work without it.

How about just installing QMP and replacing QMP.ini?

That should work as well. (Though you might want to backup plugins.ini in the plugins folder and replace that also, to keep plugins settings.)

Yes. Good idea. Simple enough. Yet it still would be nice to integrate this process into the GUI.

It's good for unexperienced users.

I'd just copy the whole folder. It's not like it's huge, and that way you get your prefs, media library, plugins, and skins.

It's just easier.

does it make any difference if the qmp versions are different on each computer?
would be amazingly great if you could just have import/export wizard for this. I couldnt even find qmp.ini on the new install when migrating to a new computer. My two qmp versions are different. (one is the latest version (117, i think), the other is about a year old.

AutoCAD-2006 already uses an exportable version-independent XML file which contains all the user and application settings. So next time, you only import the XML settings file, and the application looks and behaves like before.

Yes, QMP needs to store all settings in one transportable file.
