The irony of it, but it's true. For months on end not a drop of rain has fallen in the Brazilian rainforest. This drought is severely affecting Brazil as well as Peru. Go here (http://news.google.co.uk/news?q=drought+amazon&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=nn&oi=newsr) for the latest updates and pictures. No major disease outbreak has occurred yet, but due to the dirty waters of the amazon, filled with dead fish, it is only a matter of time. Meteorologists say this is not due to global warming, but i say it surely is a contributor. Other explanations are that Brazilian meteorologists think the weather in the Amazon is affected by sunspots and water temperatures in the Pacific Ocean - factors which vary in regular patterns. Deforestation is also a great contributor IMO.

Soon to be renamed SUNFOREST!http://www.quinnware.com/forum/images/icons/icon6.gif All kidding aside... That's not sounding goodhttp://www.quinnware.com/forum/images/icons/icon4.gif
To think, just North of there they have flooding and mud slides!http://us.news3.yimg.com/us.i2.yimg.com/p/ap/20051011/capt.xbl10910110307.guatemala_centam_flooding_xbl1 09.jpg?x=380&y=253&sig=jm1syGUI7McvglUi45GCDQ--
GUATEMALA and El Salvador
I guess this will be the next thing in the rainforest too! All the vegetation could be gone after the forest fires (being that it's so dry) then mudslides.http://www.quinnware.com/forum/images/emots/post/depressed.gif

True enough, but the big companies are doing it too. Like McDonalds which allegedly cuts down trees to make way for pastries for cows to graze on :paranoid:

"pastries for cows to graze on...". Excellent man. Your cows are spoiled man.
I think the word you're looking for is "pastures".

Interesting news from the science world. Hope this will help those in the worst areas of mosquitoes and the battle against malaria!
