View Full Version : New CUE Sheet Plug-in
shaohao

The new cue sheet plug-in support several functions:
Playlist module--loading .cue file and create virtual tracks into playlist window. You can save virtual tracks as other playlist format (.m3u8, pls or etc) after finishing loading .cue file.
Input module--load a valid input plug-in to decode virtual tracks create by playlist module.
Tag Editor module -- load virtual tracks' info from a .cue file only.
Support Encoder Plug-ins: Now, you can rip a track from a image, encode it and download it to your portable music player.
New function -- support UTF-8(with/without BOM), UTF-16LE(with BOM) and ASCII character format .cue file.
Bug fixed -- support 4 different cue sheet (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=EAC_CUE_Sheets).
Bug fixed -- support Quinnware's default MP3 input plug-in.A virtual track is a virtual filename which append a ",1.vt" to the .cue filename for marking track number. (NOTE: you can use any character such as ',', ':', '@' except for '\' and '/' !!)
Post your bug report here, THX:cheeky:
The latest v1.5 released version.

update to v1.0beta1.
Now support UNICODE .cue filename.
P.S.
Usage:
Put you CD Disc Image file "CDImage.ape" and CUE Sheet file "CDImage.cue" into same folder (Eg. E:\Music\). Remember they should be in the same folder, always.
Open "CDImage.cue" with a text editor (Eg. Notepad) and go to line "FILE "CDImage.wav" WAVE" -- as you see: the line contain the file name "CDImage.wav". We should modify it to the actual image file name "CDImage.ape" so that plug-in can positions the actual Image file path based on this file name.
OK, load the .cue file with player and play the virtual tracks.
That's all.

Nice One! Again!
Is there a way for displaying track info while playing? Now all the virtual tracks have the same info.
but then again nice one!

You can open the .cue file with a text editor and edit tracks info. Then load the .cue file. Remeber to Check on “Bypass this plug-in for unsupported file types” in QCDTagEdit.dll plug-in.

i did checked that!
I was telling that in QMP is not showing the info that exists in .cue file! An the cue file is in perfect shape!
In qmp it's showing only the info from the header:
PERFORMER "////////"
TITLE "///////"
FILE "///////////"
to all the virtual tracks, the same info!
My english sucks!

I am using the version found in Q plugins...
I can't load any CUE files. It always crashes QMP... First it says that there is a memory problem at 0x00000000 and 0x000000000
and then another popup with 0x028408b9 referenced memory at 0x0404e2d0
I don't know if this will be any helpful
and a suggestion.
In QMP Add file dialog box you have to select CUE in order to view the CUE files... It would be better if it was shown in All audio files as well... (I don't know if it would conflict with any non-music CUE files though)
And a new shell entry when you right click on a CUE file to Add playlist... (same as above)

I've fixed the bug. Visit the plug-in page later for v1.01 or the first post -- a special version for QMP b104.
Please follow the steps of Usage -- Make sure the line of "FILE "CDImage.wav" WAV" is modified to the actual image file name (such as "CDImage.ape") in the .cue file. And, put the image file and the .cue file in same folder.

A .cue file is treated as a playlist file. What you should do is just load it once, then save the virtual tracks as other playlist format (such as .m3u8, pls, m3u).

I've tested the mp3 format with a .cue file I created manully. It works fine.
I think the format of the .cue file you're using is different from the normal.
Can you upload the .cue file? So I can debug for it.

You CUE file works fine on my system.
I can't figure out where the bug is.
BTW: Are you using my QMP Docklet for ObjectDock? If you're using it, please remove the docklet from ObjectDock. The Docklet will write data to player's process from external process. 'Cause there are still bugs on this docklet, you may got unexpected errors.

Found the culprit.
I updated the APE plugin and now it works :silly:
As for the crash at shutdown, it happens only with flac, and I do have the latest version of this one :)
EDIT: I tried to disable other plugins, keeping only flac, but it still crashed.
EDIT2: Another thing: if the cue sheet point to a file with no input plugin it crashs.
I found another thing with the ape plugin. if the cd plugin is above the ape plugin in the list QMP crash when trying to read the cue file. It doesn't seem to cause any troubles with flac.
EDIT3: Er it's me again ^^. Is it possible to support audioscrobbler or other stuffs getting metadata ? opGetTrackName return the entire string in the playlist, and the others nothing.

opGetTrackName always return the title of a track.
If you want to get more info of a track, you can try opCreateDiscInfo and get the meta data based on CDDB control (but this doesn't work on virtual tracks).

Shaohao... Does this plugin mean that you can import or export lists from other saved list from other CD softwares? That's so cool and will be heavily used!...
...sorry to ask a non related question but is there a plugin for recording what you have in the QDC playlist to CD-R? And if so can it record with crossfade too (if that's how it's set for in QDC)?
It would be so cool! http://www.quinnware.com/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

The only thing, if an input plugin is desactivated, for exemple ape, it can still read an ape file. Well it's not really a bug, just a little weird.
opGetTrackName always return the title of a track.
Yes, but not with your virtual tracks. I was wondering if it was possible to make opGetTrackName, opGetArtistName and opGetDiscName working correctly with them.
I found a bug with UTF-8 encoded cue files. If the tag editor plugin is enabled the playlist show only garbage else it works well.

Hi
I'm using B104 and trying to get a large mixed track mp3 with a cue file to work correctly between tracks. I don't get a silent gap, but when the track gets to about 4 seconds before its end, it jumps straight to the next track.
I have installed the cue plugin v1.1 for B104 and using the crossfading directsound plugin.
I have set "seamless playback" and "remove leading & trailing silence" on and silence threashold to -100db. Crossfading and fade in/out are all off/disabled.
If I add the individual tracks as mp3s the track changes are perfect. It seems something to do with using a cue file. I am confident that the cue file is OK because it appears correctly in the playlist window and have tried other cue files too, just in case its to do with the large mp3.
How can I get this to work ! Its driving me mad
Thanks in advance

HI
I 've got same problems that the one in the last post with Cue plugin and Crossfader.
If I set the crossfader without Seamless Playback and Remove leading and trailing spces but with The Crossfading ON and Fade In/Out On it repeats the last five seconds = that exactly depends on the time settings for crossfader.
Please ShaoHao would you mind correct these issues for the plug=in

Hi , Atarisoul !!!
It's true . Maybe Shaohao doesn´t know of this bug. So let's report it ( It's up to you 'cause I really don´t know very well how to report this bug to ShaoHao except for this thread )
Also, I 've investigated a little far this problem and I've found that when you turn on the WAVE OUT plug-in for playback or the DIRECT SOUND plug-in for playback here´s what happens : IT INSERTS A SILENCE ON THE TRACK CHANGE !!! ( Maybe this is because of a programmation of a start and a stop for every virtual track )
I think maybe ShaoHao can help us !!!

HI SHAOHAO !!!
You've got to excuse me for seeking bugs, but this time something's wrong when I try to open a CUE file of a FLAC file.
Simply it get's this error : the track doesn´t skip automatically to the next track. It's like it's playing forever the same first track. The sound stops at the end of the track and also the timer but in the playlist the track remains blinking. You have to manually skip the track or stop and select another track to play track number two.
I've tried changing the flac plug-in and I've replaced it for the plugin for flac files of Winamp, and it stills report the same behaviour.
Another bug is that in whatever file I open via a CUE file ( mp3,mpc,ape, etc) the last track remains blinking and it doesn´t stop either. You have to manually stop the player. ( But really I don't care too much about this last bug )
Please, ShaoHao can you help me ?
And thanks very much for your patience

Adding and playing one cue file works fine but I'm having trouble when there's two or more cues queued to the playlist.
At the end of the last track in the first cue, QCD hangs when trying to skip to the first track of the second cue file.
Im running QCD 4.51, CUE Sheet Player v1.1b3 and queuing cues of large MP3s.

Hello,
I've faced with some problem for CUE plugin.
The FLAC files stopped at the end and does not open the next track automatically (I need to press 'next' button).
Probably it was solved for QMP but I'm still using the QCD and cannot use the new versions oriented to QMP only.
And one more thing. As CUE file is textual and any mistake can be appeared... it will be good to provide any error or warning message.
Best regards,

All that I get is 0.1 sec names and all are set to block, I am correct that its the .cue file from a CD image DAO list that is expected to work ?
I have had .cue files in the past that IIRC looked to be a different format and would just play in anything. I will dig thru some CD\DVD's and try to find them.

I just downloaded the debug version and took the following steps:
1. Erase all traces of my old QMPCUE setup (flush name cache, edit plugin.ini to remove the "CUE Sheet player" section
2. Restart QMP to check that the plugins were gone. This looked ok.
3. Quit QMP
4. Copy new QMPCUE.dll to QMP's plugin folder
5. Restart QMP
6. Check if plugins are there: Nothing there...
7. Told QMP to load new plugins
8. Check if plugins are there: Still nothing there...
9. Looked for a debug.log: Nowhere to be found
So, at this moment I cannot use any cue file at all. I'm using QMP B119 btw.
Kind regards,
Pascal

That's a lot better :-)
All plugins are there now and CUE sheets do load. I see the tracktitles and artists appear, but then they disappear again... Seems like QMP overwrites them?
debug.log attached...
i have made a clean installation of qmp b119, but QMPCUE 1.2 b2 won't play any ques (in particular i mostly play mp3 images with ques).
after loading the que (either by dragging it to the playlist or double clicking in explorer), the play queue looks just fine. the plugin reads que exactly the way it should be, e.g., all the data incl. track names and durations is ok and items are not blocked, too.
but when trying to play them, i get nothing, but lightning fast skip through the play queue. it looks like the player is trying open the virtual track, and after failure keeps trying one after another.
i have also mentioned it tries to change the playback plugin to null output. anyway, it does behave identically whatever playback option is selected afterwards.
i have just downloaded the debug version. please find attached here the logfile. i hope it helps and i really wait for the fix!
thank you.

I got a cue 'lightning fast' play when its set to route via dev/null.
I switched back to cross fading I think (I use wave out normally I have just remembered this part) and the first time I did that the tracks played ...not since have I been able to do so.
I am going to create a real image as well as look for an old .cue file that were of the type, that I remember them as having been, not a CD\DVD burn cue sheet.
Also am I expecting to get a debug.log in... ah found it in the QMP main folder not plugs.
I have some work to finish and I will have another go. I might even make a clean install on another computer.

Same problem as the others. I mainly use the CUEs with FLAC and APE files. I don't seem to have a problem with the playback plugin getting set to /dev/null, the Crossfading plugin is active all the time.

Same problem as the others.
From the looks of you log...
[Fri Sep 21 15:47:13 2007]playlist> track: 1, start: 0, end: 739000, title: Night On Bald Mountain
Yours did in fact work on the file, where as most of mine...
[Fri Sep 21 00:31:33 2007]playlist> track: 2, start: 0, end: 0, title: Fly On The Windscreen
But I do have a few that seemed to have processed the data
[Fri Sep 21 00:31:33 2007]playlist> track: 3, start: 0, end: 666, title: A Question Of Lust,
Most of what I am working with are also Flac files, I have just created an .ape set just in case ...nothing changed :( BUt in the past it was .mp3 files that I have had .cue files for and all of which have worked (with QCD).
Does the Debug.log file get created in the directory from where the play list/cue file is or executed from ?
I thought that the QMP dir was the first place I looked, but then, as I did find one in there, I thought that the others must have been written over, but now I have started to find more debug.logs in my EAC output folders
the logfile should be created directly in your qmp installation folder.

Yes, I did take a look at the log file, and it looked fine. But I got the same "lightning fast" skip through.

If you are playing a .mp3 image file. qMp's default QCDMp3.dll is not compatible with the QMPCUE.dll. I'm trying to fix the bug.
But you can try Paul's QCDBass.dll plug-in. I've uploaded a new QCDBass.dll which can be compatible with QMPCUE.dll.
Please visit Paul's Quinnware BASS Input Plug-in, find my latest post and download the latest QCDBass.dll.
to LennyNero:
Your cue file is very strange. can you upload the cue sheet file? I'll have a look at it.

ENnnnn... Try the new 1.3b1. Wish the bug has been fixed:ninja:
Visit here (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?p=45831#post45831) to download from my first post of this thread.
NOTE: There is a bug in QCDMediaSource.dll. I have report it to the bug tracker.
You'd better turn off MediaSource's buffering function for local media files to get a better compatibility. Otherwise, some input plug-in (FALC, APE and etc) will failed when you try to play a non-first virtual track directly.
thank you very much, shaohao.
indeed, switching to QCDBass solved the problem.
however, i continue getting switched to null output in some way. still no idea if this is QMPCUE related problem and it doesn't occur frequently.

Sorry I took so long, too much working on other things, and when I plug in my turntable I forget about QMP and wonder why I even bother with mp3/digital audio :)
That log file had two or three cue sheets, one, mine as was created by the latest version of EAC, and the others were something I got ;-) and used ...or not as the case was.
But I have had a few problems with the computer I have QMP on and or with QMP itself. I have an HDCP enabled Vid card but are not as silly as to use Vista, so I get some 300 times a second things telling me the HDCP key cant be found and other 5hist ...so the event logs are useless.

Hi, LennyNero, Guss, duckie and others:
Thanks for your help.
Your reports are very helpful.
I have upload a new v1.4b1. Several bugs had beed fixed.
The new version support 4 types cue sheet (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=EAC_CUE_Sheets). I think some of you can read .cue file correctly.
And, the new version also support Quinnware's default MP3 input plug-in. I've re-written the core to get a better compatibility.
Enjoy it

I have trashed my QMP setup and are about to set it back up with just the basic plugs and yours that I need for the .cue files and work from there, this was quite an old install with so many plugs and other things dragged around from older windows installs that could be some of my problems.

New v1.5 is released.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/qplugins
You can save several tracks as a new .cue file.
Tag module can read various tag comments.
thanks, mate!
you are doing really great job, which was paused a little while ago and caused me to disappoint sometimes.
contiguous files with cue sheets are becoming increasingly popular nowadays, but there still exists a big problem with a lack of compatible software to handle it.
i would even enjoy this being an integrated option of my beloved qmp player.
anyway, back to the development affairs, i would like to ask if there could be an option to actually make a cue sheet from within a player? by making it possible to manually seek a big file and mark a point, which would then create a new track reference in the cue?
for me, this would be one of the most advanced player vs. plugin combination ever developed!
at this time, i would like to expressly mention the very welcome presence of new support for utf-8, i have been missing this.
switching now to test v1.5.

Did you mean that the cue plug-in should give you a config dialog box so that you can set the start index and the end index of a playing track by dragging the seek point, then create a .cue file like below?
TITLE "Let's Rock"
PERFORMER "Various Artists"
FILE "E:\1.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE track1
PERFORMER artist1
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE track2
PERFORMER artist2
INDEX 00 03:20:45
FILE "E:\2.mp3" MP3
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE track3
PERFORMER artist3
INDEX 00 04:05:45
FILE "E:\3.mp3" MP3
INDEX 01 00:00:00
If this is really what you want to.
Good News, I'm working on it.
A config dialog box will popup when you try to save a set of media file as a .cue file so thant you can set the start/end index of each track and burn out a seamless CD:grin:
If you just want to rip a track from a big image file and add it into another .cue file.
Follow below steps:
There should be a .cue file for the big image file. Open it with qMp. CUE plug-in will create virtual tracks for you automatically.
Delete all other tracks from play queue. Just leave the tracks you want to.
Add other physical media file into the play queue.
Save the play queue as a new .cue playlist file. This should be what you really want to
Or, you can drag&drop all virtual tracks into media library. Then you know what to do next.Good Luck
yes, exactly that's what i meant. that truly will be an amazing option!!!
i can't believe my eyes, i will finally have a simple way to split dj sets i usually listen to very often! all in one single player, versatility at its best.
furthermore, at the moment it is very complicated task. although writing a cue manually is easy, i miss an automation to have index points detected and inserted into the cue sheet, which is really supposed to be done automatically by software.
waiting impatiently from now on, great news, shaohao!

Dear shaohao,
First of all thanks for all your wonderful plug-ins. I really appreciate that. ;)
Now about my problem.
I can't get QMPCUE v1.5 to work. :(
I allready posted a comment in the plug-ins section (excuse me for the rating - I'll overwrite it when I get the plug-in to work), but lately thought that a post here would be a better choice.
Generally, the problem is that when I double-click the cue sheet file, it opens in player and shows artist/track names, but all tracks are "locked". It seems, like there is incorrect file name in the cue sheet. Well, you can say maybe it's something wrong with cue sheet itself, but it worked with previous versions - QCD 4.51 and your plug-in QMPCUEv11b3.
By the way, I tried many formats and decoders (APE, FLAC, WAV, MP3) - none of them works. I tried to put in the older version of QMPCUE (the above mentioned v11b3) - doesn't work either. Also I tried it on several computers with different versions of windows (didn't try Vista). Could it be something wrong with this build of QMP? :(
Any comments and ideas are very welcome. ;)

Hi,
I can't get the cue sheet plugin to work. I've used older versions in the past and they worked fine but since reinstalling windows and updating QMP and the cue sheet plugin it doesn't work.
I am using QMP version 4.51a and CUESheet v1.5.1. When I open a cue file (either by associating the file with qmp or when opening from inside qmp) it just shows the filename in the playlist (no tracks) and won't play anything. I've tried various different cue files with the same result and checked that the mp3 files work on their own.
I did have problems installing from CUESheet_v1_5_1.exe. It had a different default install folder to the QMP default folder. It also installed to the root of the QMP folder rather than the plugins folder. I've tried putting copies of the dll in both folders and tried installing to both default folders but still no luck. I've also tried CUESheet v1.5 but still had the problem.
Any suggestions on how to get it to work would be appreciated.

You said you just re-install the system.
The plug-in installer will check the register key "KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quinnware\Quintessentia l Media Player" to get the installation path of Quintessential Player. You re-installed the system, so the key is lost.
Re-install qMp can solve the problem.

Thanks for the quick response.
I had downloaded qmp from here:
http://www.quinnware.com/downloads.php
When I went to the about box it showed version 4.51a.
I downloaded it again from the version history page (build 119), reinstalled and now the cue sheet plugin works! It now shows build 119 as the version in the about box, I assume that it means it's build 119 of version 5?!

What you downloaded before was QCD version 4.51, which is the last real release of the player. The new development builds are called QMP and are so far numbered b1xx, with the newest release being b119. So b119 is a beta release. (Though quite stable for most people)
I can't get v1.5.5 + b120 working. Track names show up in queue just fine, but they're all 'blocked' and won't play. Tried with APE+CUE and FLAC+CUE. :disappoin
OK, figured out what was causing that. For whatever reason the plugin was checked in Playlists but not Input. I notice, though, that under Input the plugin reports itself as v1.5.5 while under Playlists it's v1.5.2. AFAICT I don't have two separate versions installed here...

The latest CUE Sheet Player plug-in contains three modules:
input module v1.5.5
playlist reader v1.5.2
Virtual Track tag support v1.5.2
Fair enough, but is there any reason not to keep the version numbers in sync?

Yep, say if there are more than one part that makes something up and one is at v1.5.5 another at v1.5.2 ...and so on.
'spose you could say its all at v1.5...
I could understand if there were a lot of separate pieces, but we're talking about a single DLL, here. Granted, it kinda functions as more than one plugin, but I still think it would make more sense to just have one version number for the whole thing.
