Hi there,

I'm having a few small niggles with trying to achieve (near!) gapless playback of mp3s.

I used to use Winamp 3 as my other player alongside QCD, and I had gapless playback working great in Winamp after a good fiddle with the different settings of the crossfading directsound plug in.

But i've decided on just using one player (QCD) as I prefer it much more, but unfortunately the gapless playback doesn't seem to perform as good as the Winamp one.

Basically i've tried many different settings within the preferences, followed the FAQ on the forum about gapless playback, and also tried to mirror my current winamp settings, but some songs are still giving me playback with gaps inbetween tracks, whereas Winamp doesn't and seems to perform great in this respect.

I have managed getting the player to be gapless to a degree, but if the next song starts quiet it cuts the first second or so off, which isn't so good :(

Can anyone help me achieve gapless playback as good as Winamp?

Cheers
Morgan

hmmm sounds like you've enabled 'remove leading and trailing silence...' in the gap removal tab of the crossfd plug... try disabling that.
whilst on this, i sometimes get some strange things happening when i have this option enabled and playing mp3's... like when a new song starts playing, there will be silence greeting me throughout the song... hitting back seems to fix it then...

Yeah when I enable that option, the gaps are better, but it cuts off the first couple of seconds if its a quiet track.
But if I disable it I get the gap problem...although not with the same options set up in Winamp :(

I've tried many different combinations of options to see what can be done, but no luck as yet.

Any other suggestions anyone? Could it just be that the plug-in needs more development...?

Cheers
