I have promised some of you guys i would share my photos of my trip to Italy and thought i might as well put it here in the forums. It's not like i've got anything to hide anyways ;)

Go here (http://img234.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=stpeterssquareinthevatican23oj.jpg) to check out my photoblog. The images are not in sequence so here is a little summary where ive been and when:

First of all i went with two mates of mine but i limited the number of photos in which you will see them in order not to offend them.

We took a flight to Rome with Ryanair and right away took a train to Naples. There we stayed for 5 days to check out the city and its surroundings including the volcanic region to the north called the solvatara and the beautiful Amalfi coast to the south. We have also been to an openair freemusic festival starring Morcheeba. Afterwars we went to Pompeii and Herculaneum. You'll see lots of pics of Pompeii. It was truely amazing, the old city. We then hiked up the volcano, the Vesuvius. There are some lovely crater pictures. After that we took a train to Sicily (8 hours!) to Catania (east coast). We spend one day at the beach, but the water wasnt so clean unfortunately. The next day we took an interbus to Agrigento (southwest coast) where the valley of the temples is located. A 6 hour return trip but it was definitely worth it. The next thing was of course to go to the volcano, the Etna. Again lots of pictures of the volcano, the highlight of the trip. Dumb tourists took a cable lift to the top and afterwards jeeps costing them 55 euros. We simply hiked up the volcano to an altitude of 3000 m. :P After we spend 4 days seeing the Etna and surroundings we travelled to Syracuse. It's the famouse city where Archimedes lived and there lies the biggest Greek theatre of Sicily. We also spend one day at the most beautiful beaches yet seen at Fontane Bianche. The water was warm and very clear so you could see the fishes swim around your legs. The trip was then drawing to a close so we travelled back north and stayed one night in Taormina. There lies the 2nd greatest Greek theatre beautifully situated on a mountain top. The town itself is also very nice. Next day we travelled back to Rome via train and spend the last 3 days there. Lots of things we have seen in Rome as well as you can see from the photos. All in all, everything worked out very well and it was good to speak some Italian again :)

EDIT: Photoblog is messed up somehow. Go here (http://img234.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=stpeterssquareinthevatican23oj.jpg) to see the gallery instead. Hover with the mouse over a picture to see a description.
