Well...in many ways it certainly has a great deal of merit but on the other hand it doesn't have...well...you know. When you just get sick and tired of having 'clever', original designs.
For myself, I arrived at a point that I no longer had any desire to impress everybody who came into the studio with how 'hip' and 'aware' I was... it just isn't what I REALLY wanted to see on my desktop. What I REALLY wanted to do was to satisfy myself and indulge in my own private fantasies.
You know what I'm talking about.

I thought I'd just add a few more suggestions to this topic.
First off - VLADSTUDIO (http://www.vladstudio.com/wallpapers/). I love this guys work. Truly original.
SPACEWALLPAPERS (http://www.spacewallpapers.net/). A bit geeky but some truly arresting images.
SHIFTEDREALITY (http://www.shiftedreality.com/). Some are nice but there's only so much cheese I can handle.
Finally, SOCKSOFF (http://www.socksoff.co.uk/index.html). This guys own work is very good but his links page has some real gems. If only for the quality of some of the sites themselves. Broadband rec...suggested.

Well...they're OK, as far as it goes but I'm wondering...how come there aren't any breasts? Kinda gay if you ask me.
If I had to choose one I guess I'd go with the 'socksoff'...but only because they offer wallpapers for wide screens.

Webshots is bandwidth stealing rubbish. Download your pics from places like Deviantart and use a proggie like Panorama to display them. We actively block Webshots 9which often uses stuff you can find elsewhere anyway) at the office. There's no way I'm going to download a site's "software" to display pics - that's an open invitation to lose bandwidth.
