First of all let me say: the new QMP is sooo god it almost make me cry. All the reasons keeping Foobar2000 is now fullfilled by QMP.

THIS IS BASED ON MY PERSONAL TASTE. I DON'T TRY TO CLAIM MY OPINION IS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSES.

1. NO MUSIC-ID !!:
This function is utterly stupid because CDDB is very inaccurate & fuzzy. FreeDB would make more sence but is almost as inaccurate as CDDB (i know you can disable it).

2. SHOUTCAST MEMORY:
Possibility to save shoutcast & Live365 adresses in a memory. This idea is kinda based on my Winamp's Bookmark function & my favorite online radio player NetRadio (http://home.rochester.rr.com/woatman/netradio/netradio.html) . It would be nice with an similar feature.

3. GAPLESS/SEAMLESS PLAYBACK WITHOUT ANY CROSSFADING:
I never use the crossfade function... :disappoin

4. A VOLUME LOGIC PLUGIN !!:
This is the freakin' sweetest playback plugin ever !! :bandit: I would luuuv QMP support for it (without using the Winamp DSP Plugin (http://www.quinnware.com/list_plugins.php?plugin=74) ). Go to Octiv Labs (http://www.octiv.com/index.asp?content=VolumeLogicPlugins2) and start to nag them for QMP support.

5. PAUL QUINN FOR PRESIDENT:
I'm sure he would make a much better president than that buttplug George Bush... :cheeky:

6. INTERGRATE QCD XCOPY:
This is very usefull lil' plugin. Especially if you download alot of music (legal of course :cheeky:). If yo don't have it, check it out (http://www.quinnware.com/list_plugins.php?plugin=58) .

7. CUESHEET SUPPORT:
For us who listen to DJ mixes. Now i use the Cue Sheet Quick Track 1.1 (http://www.quinnware.com/list_plugins.php?plugin=68), but it would be much cooler if you could add a CUE sheet directly to the playlist or intergrate it into the MP3 (without screwing up the VBR header).

1. Music ID: I don't think it's stupid, I just think it should by default be a secondary metadata source, rather than primary.

2. Stream bookmarks: Would be nice. Currently, I just save a playlist file for every stream I listen to, but it's a bit clumsy.

3. Gapless playback: Do I even need to say anything here? (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4016) ;)

4. Volume normalizer: I take it you haven't used QMP's built-in ReplayGain functionality?

6. XCopy: I haven't actually used this plugin, but from the description, it sounds like most of that can now be done with QMP's tagger.

7. Cuesheets: Not something I use often, as I just break such files up into seperate tracks when I get them. Still, would be handy if I were to use QMP for the 'breaking up' part.

1) MusicID is supposedly only going to be available during the beta cycle (to help Gracenote test it out). Once the finished QMP is released, MusicID will have gone bye-bye which I think is a bad thing, honestly.

2) You could have a look at the elephant plug-in:
http://www.quinnware.com/list_plugins.php?plugin=51

4) Isn't this just a Winamp DSP plug-in? (Didn't download to check) If it is, then it should already work in QMP...

That Elephant Plugin did the trick. It's a keeper until something better pops up :)

1. Music ID: Maybe this will be useful someday, but it is still to buggy & weird for serious testing from my side. I can tag my music much better and more accurate than CDDB & FreeDB together.

2. Stream bookmarks: Thanks to Tokelil's "Elephant" tip, this problem is solved for me.... *yay*

3. Gapless playback: I know, i know... ;) but this is something that is really vital to me.

4. Volume "LOGIC" (not normalizer): Volume Logic preforms a realtime remastering of the playback and gives you a totally crisp output in your speakers. Replaygain only "normalize" the sound. It doesn't alter it.

6. XCopy: Yes, QMP's tagger can do most of it, but XCopy does it better (according to me)..

7. Cuesheets: Splitting COMPILATIONS is something i also do, since they have natural gaps between the tracks. But a DJ mix is more of a single track containing several songs. I see no reason of intentionally add a gap in the middle of a song and then try to repair it again with gapless playback. Then it's much handier to rip the entire thing as ONE file & store the track info in an external Cuesheet.

realtime remastering
BWAAAAHAHAHAHA!!

Thanks man, that's the funniest thing I've read all day! :silly:

:o what the h*ll was i thinking of when was writing that. My mind must have been elsewhere. Lets quote directly from Volume Logic's homepage (http://www.octiv.com/index.asp?content=VolumeLogicPlugins2) to avoid misunderstandings:

"Volume Logic incorporates a state-of-the-art 5-band dynamics processor that examines and corrects your audio thousands of times a second. The result? Low levels are intelligently raised and loud signals are kept under control, all in real-time. Volume Logic brings ALL your cuts to life."

That still sounds a lot like volume normalizer, only that it's done real time.

Tokelil: It seems to be output plug-in.

So it's a realtime dynamics destroyer? Neat! :silly:

Most of the CDs in my collection have been stripped of their dynamics more than enough, thanks. And if I want the EQ effects it applies, I'll use QMP's built-in equalizer.

Also, this thing's an output plugin? Why are they doing DSP effects with an output plugin?

Also, this thing's an output plugin? Why are they doing DSP effects with an output plugin?Im thinking the same thing... Maybe it's easier on the resources, but it's also less flexable IMO... For example they need to support crossfading and all the other output stuff besides their DSP tricks.

so this volume logic makes everthing the same volume? So if the song fades out, it will automatically raise the volume so it sounds like the rest? And if there is a quite part of the song it will also raise the volume? That could get annoying really fast. That would be good for tabbing a song though, because then you could hear everything.

Amen! I used this plugin constantly in QCD (the only thing it didn't have that would have been nice was the ability to rename copied files to be prefixed by ordered numbers starting with X or something like that) and haven't tried it with QMP yet but I think there should be something even more intuitive added to the player itself. I've always wanted the ability to drag and drop files from say the playlist onto a folder on my HD/desktop/whatever and using standard windows key combinations have it either copy the files (default), move the files (holding down shift, After dropping you would then be prompted if you really wanted to move the file unless you disabled the warning in preferences), or create a shortcut (holding down alt) to the file. It seems like a logical thing but I never saw a player with this feature (I made the feature request for Winamp sometime in the late 90s but we all know that player hasn't made any forward progress since then, haha).

Ya, and I need that about as much as a fish needs a bicycle:cross-eye
