View Full Version : New Feature: Library Displayed Info From Tag

Um yeah, long title.
Basically, I'm suggesting a feature where the displayed information in the media library is taken from the ID3 tag.

Sometimes MusicID auto-identifies tracks incorrectly; I know you can disable this but it doesn't help for tracks that have already been identified. It's annoying because some tracks that were identified correctly aren't in English but rather something like Japanese, and the MusicID seems to use the Japanese characters. I'd rather have it display the Spelt-out version of the name (Like "Utada Hikaru" or something), and that is what I have in my tags.

An option that tells the media library to take the information from the ID3 tag by default would be useful. Any information not supplied by the tag could be taken from the MusicID data, but information that IS supplied would be taken from the tag.

Agreed. I was saying much the same thing over in this thread (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4323) (specificly post #7).

I would prefer tags to be the authoritative metadata source, with MusicID as a supplement.

I concur with these two requests: ID3 tags should be the primary source for file information when loading/reloading library information, with MusicID being an optional item. I would also like to add a request to add a subroutine to parse the numeric genre codes into their corresponding genres without actually displaying the numeric code itself (so when Media Library is open the genre is listed as Trip-Hop and not (27)Trip-Hop)...unless there is a possibility that I'm using some other program that just isn't writing the genre tags correctly.

And one more potential item: when editing multiple tags at once, what about having the ability to designate which fields are being written to all tags and which are to be ignored?

UPDATE: One other thing: the ability to designate writing ID3v1, ID3v2, or both. Perhaps with an additional option to automatically synchronize all the tags in the library or a given folder?

2ND UPDATE: Just stumbled across the section where you designate what type of tag you're writing. Sorry about that. I still haven't come across any of the other things, though.
