Actually I think I screwed up in calling it a window manager replacement I think the correct term is shell replacement and what it does is it replaces explorer in displaying the desktop. Replacing the default shell built into explorer allows the author to build a more flexible interface. eg. I can as a user add or remove plugins that allow me to control the volume (shown on the left side of my screenshot). Functionally it works alot like blackbox, or enlightenment for X (linux etc) but still uses to explorer to show directory structure and allows you to use windows normally.

I run talisman desktop for my shell and will never go back to explorer.I love the the fact that I can make my desktop anything I want it to look like with less rescources than explorer.
