Is there any way in the Avatar section there could be sort of a database of icons (sorry, I have a habit of calling Avatars Icons) that users can pick from and upload to? I know regular and dedicated posters may have their own 'custom' icon, but it would be nice if we could upload some non-specific icons for others to use. Not only would it be nice for new members to be able to have a good amount of pre-made icons to pick from right off the bat... but I'm sure some vets might even feel the need to change every once in a while. ;) Heck, I'm sure people would actually like making icons. I know I could make quite a few.

Anyway... a library of icons is one thing that I love about some other forums. It'd be nice to see it here... but no big deal if not.

I think AvataraLibrary is a very bad idea. Just imagine vast legions of newbies with the same avatara...
I've seen such forums, where you can't distinguish one poster from another until you'll check his nickname.

I think that's a bad idea too, unless once an avatar is used out of the library it is removed from it .It would have to be a pretty big library!

Agreed. It's not that hard to find/create an image of the right size, if you really want an avatar.

it seems kind of lame to provide avatars, especially for a QCD forum.

I think for this forum and for this program it isn't a good idea. I'm member of some other forums and none offers a pre-made avatar (a.k.a icons) for the very same reason Lich says.

Yep. I agree with Lich too. I really enjoy being able to glance down the thread and recognize all the posters. The problem with most 'Avatar Banks' is that they all look too much like one another. Just look at this thread...look at all the beautiful diversity! Your's(Darin), Lich's, Heigar's, krazyd's, drewkeller's, Hanzo's, and my Avatar are all completely different. That's what makes them so damn cool! ;)

Not to mention that special feeling of having lovingly crafted and uploaded your own personal Avatar. It's all warm and fuzzy. The feeling I mean...not the Avatar.

Mine is a cropped section of the logo on my website... The logo is a modified picture of an airplane wing that my brother took. :)

what's your avatar all about Orange? I noticed your from Atlanta but have a 'boards of canada' avatar.Heigar is correct, 'Boards of Canada' is a band. I don't know if you're familiar with the IDM, or Braindance genre of electronic music but 'Boards of Canada' are the quintessential IDM band. They are actually from Scotland, the name 'Boards of Canada' is a reference to the 'Film Boards of Canada' which they say inspired much of their sound with their grainy, dated, melodic documentary and nature-show scores. I could go on and on about 'Boards of Canada' as they are, hands down, my favorite music-creating entity of all time, but I will spare you all.
Matt, I saw in another thread that you enjoyed 'The Herbaliser'. I dig them too, and by that reasoning I think you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice not to try out some 'Boards of Canada'. I also know a lot about other electronic artists if you are interested.

On a semi-related note; I wish I was Canadian. You have certain leniencies on things that I enjoy as I understand it. B.C. in particular.;)
