Hello,
-I've a favour to ask; why you don't update/use latest libvorbis 1.1.0 (or even SVN build) in your QMP builds. According to the changelog, modifications to the Vorbis part were dated back to year 2003 or so.
-I hope you/the developers will give attention to this matter, thanks.
Regards,
-Musafir_86.
Not a bad idea at all, although I think Paul's got enough on his plate as it is. Personally, I'm waiting for shaohao to update the generic CLI encoder (once the new plugin docs & dev kit are ready) so that I can just drop in, say, the latest aoTuV (http://www.geocities.jp/aoyoume/aotuv/) whenever I want.
QMP is using Ogg Vorbis 1.1.1.

-Opps... It look likes that I'm behind 2 days  ; just some minutes ago I just read about the release of libvorbis 1.1.1 at www.vorbis.com :silly:

QMP is using Ogg Vorbis 1.1.1.
Yes, I noticed this. Precisely the reason I use QMP for ripping now. It also saves a little time with tagging, although I do have to do a bit of tweaking (for personal preferences) to get the tags exactly how I want them. Thank you very much, Paul, for fully updated Ogg Vorbis support.

Hi again,
-But, I just browsing the Plug-Ins page and found this : http://www.quinnware.com/list_plugins.php?plugin=24 which tell that the QMP encoder still using libvorbis 1.0.1! Which dated back to 13th May 2004! :(
-Maybe Paul mistyped it (1.1.1 instead of 1.0.1); so I hope you can update this as soon as possible.
Thanks.

QMP comes with a slightly newer encoder version than the one listed on that page. (1.81 versus 1.82.) I'm guessing that's where the difference is.
A better way to tell would be to check one of the output file's info tags, which stores what encoder version it was made with. I might try that later.
OK, I just tested what's actually being output. It's neither 1.1.1 nor 1.0.1. It's actually 1.1.0 RC1.

The date of the encoder is 20040629. I don't know exactly what version that is, but it's definitely not 1.0.1.

I told ya, it's 1.1.0 RC1.

-If that's the case, how about you guys update it to libvorbis 1.1.1 Final Release  It can be grabbed from www.vorbis.com or http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/vorbis/ or www.rarewares.org (DLLs only; maybe unrelated to QMP).
-BTW, what I say about libvorbis 1.0.1 is QCD 4.51a (official release); not QMP Development version - the encoder in that ver (4.51a) still use libvorbis 1.0.1. Also, how about the decoder (playback plugin), it's using latest libvorbis?
-That's all, thanks.

Well, you did post this on the QMP board... :P

-Sorry, but I've downloaded both of QCD 4.51a & QMP Dev build; maybe I've been confused.
-BTW, when will QMP have an official release soon? Also, is v4.51a the last build for QCD? Thanks.

Yes, 4.51 is the last official release of QCD.
As to the official release of QMP, it will come when it's ready. There are bugs still to be worked through and new features to be added (I think. Don't want to speak for Paul) and then the new features will have their bugs to be worked through...
There really is no set schedule is all I'm saying.
Try the Beta anyway. It's feature rich and stable enough for daily use.

-Maybe offtopic a little, but is QMP a continuation of QCD development (upon same core), or it was started from scratch?

Yes, it's a continuation. There are a lot of new features now so look at it as a huge upgrade.
IIRC I read somewhere that QCD's codebase started to take its 'modern' form with version 3.0. When all is said and done, QMP will be the biggest overhaul that codebase has seen.

@Everybody,
-Hmm, I downloaded QMP 104 some weeks ago, but just 4 or 5 days ago I realized that the output files created by the build-in Vorbis encoder still carry the tag "Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20040629" which mean it's using libvorbis 1.1.0; NOT 1.1.1 as stated in "Plugin Settings - About" in Preference page. For more information, please refer to http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/vorbis/CHANGES .
Thank you.
