Hi, whenever I play CD's using QCD the audio playback is marred by a fast clicking sound. This does not occur with mp3s or wav files, nor does it occur with cd's in windows media player. I have a Pentium 3 450Mhz with 128 meg of RAM. My OS is Win98SE and my soundcard is a Crystal/C-Media CMI8330.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

what playback plugin are you using?
have you messed with any buffers?
is digital audio extraction enabled ?
you are using QCD (4.0~) or QMP (beta 10~) ?

does this clicking sound come from the drive or the speakers?

Thanks for your reply. I have just downloaded and installed Version 4.51 and have not messed with it in any way. Since receiving your reply, I have tried all 3 audio plugins with and without digital audio extraction enabled. The clicking is from the speakers. I am in the process of downloading updated drivers fro my sound card. hope this info helps :-)

you could try moving your desired playback plugin higher up in the list
disabling plugins you don't use is good too.
also making qcd higher priority is something you could try.
after updating your driver of course ;)

Have you ruled out the possibility of it being the drive? I have had problem drives over the years that do this. If you find that it is the drive, then it may be worth looking at the manufacturers site for a firmware update that addresses the issue.
