What mode do you use?

Hey,

I just wanted to get an idea of what modes are being use in QCD. It's fine if you don't use the default skin, just vote for whatever mode you would use.

I use the kong mode. There are too many things missing on the other ones. FAR too many.

I use the Kong mode too. I really like the retro mode because of the size, shape, layout, etc. However, the numbered playlist makes it tough to use since it only shows a handful at a time and I have to hover over a button in order to see what the real track is (since I always listen to .mp3s). If it was reorganized to use a playlist like the one from Kong or Runt, I'd probably use the Retro mode exclusively. I realize that you're still using it to demonstrate the other playlist style, so it's probably out of the question to change it.

I use Kong mode too if I'm using default skin, I think it's got the best look and I like a goodlooking skin :)

Same. (but as modes go I always use whishade types, like BBX Mercury or MMD3)

I use the default skin 95% of the time mostly in the runt mode with a little use of the other 2 modes.
Question - why does the playlist window pop-up over the top of another window such as the preference window when I have the player and playlist opened and click preference. The player doesn't - just the playlist window. This is very annoying. It happens quite frequently. Thanks

I used to try other skins once in a while, but never kept them more than a few minutes. I doubt there will ever be one that suits me, unless someone makes one nearly identical to the default that uses blue or black as its main colors instead of green.

Yeah, Kong mode is what I use whenever I'm not using Assasin... But I would love to see the Kong mode in some other color. Green isn't my favorite color exactly.

I made the default in several colors that was once available on Drew's server, but you can just im me and I can send it to you.

using the small-mode's most of the time (MMD3 winshade or 4Corners)
The QCD-Default skin is quite nice, but over the years some realy great skins were made.
and i ever looked for a Runt-Mode, that is small, but not too small... so i changed fron the Basic-Skin
to SteelCity, then to MMD3, and now 4Corners is the most used Skin on my PC

Im not sure what to vote right now. I dont use the default skin when listening to music but sometimes when I need a feature missing in a skin I find my self pressing CTRL+0 to use the KONG mode. On the other hand, if no other skins where available but the default the Runt mode would probably be my favorite.

I don't think Matt has any problem with chicubs posting the colored versions of the base skin...:confused:

And on the AIM thing... well I live in Panama dude. AIM is pretty useless for me and the only time I had an AOL CD, a friend of mine over MSN told me to do a nice experiment with the AOL CD and the microwave... you should try, certainly looks very cool ! Kinda 4th of July for 2 seconds.... :D

my computer is not effed up at all. I send a nd recieve files all the time. including with the people trillian. Anyway, I use AIM, MSN and Yahoo Messenger now.

Wow dude. I guess you have ICQ and Mirc + a Fax Machine, Cell phone and beeper + a blackberry device and a PDA ? Not to mention 2 phone lines with call waiting and call forwarding enabled + 2 email accounts in case one fails for preventing flodded inbox of legimate emails... :D :D :D

There was a time when I had all the IM programs available, and yes even AIM. But not anymore, only MSN for me.

So Chicubs... are you posting the colored version of the base skin?

At home, I use the default skin in Kong Mode with the Alpha Plug-in.

At work I use the default skin in Runt Mode, mainly because Alpha doesn't work on WinME and Kong Mode hides parts of the screen I need to see when developing apps.

But one suggestion, assuming this is some kind of market research to see what kind of modes people would use, is a mode that is say twice higher than runt mode with artist/album/title stacked kinda like in Kong Mode but in the same size as Runt Mode. And also the Bitrate Display area. That would be the ultimate mode for me! twice the height of Runt Mode would still fit on the far right side on top of a programs button/menu bar where there are no buttons anymore (At 1024x768+ res that is)

A few warnings...

It will stink up your kitchen big time! I did it once at work (With the boss's approval) shortly after hearing about this experiment to show everyone and they all got mad because of the smell of burnt plastic that stunk the cafeteria for a week!

Also, assuming you wanna use the CD as a coaster (What else would you do with an AOL CD???) then note that the microwaving will weaken it and after about a year of supporting the weight of a pepsi can it might end up like this:

I did the microwave thing with the AOL CD and it started sparkling around very nice but after that the CD is useless. I dunno maybe I have a higher power microwave or something, because the CD melted and was all deformed. I had to clean the microwave of melted plastic and the smell remained like for 20 mins...
