View Full Version : Double Click to Add Tracks to Playlist

I have been asked a few times by people that I have introduced to QMP as to how they add tracks from the Media Library to the Playlist. I realise that you can do that from the context menu, but there is an option in Preferences to "double click to add tracks to playlist". Could we make this the default setting?
Really, I think it's best the way it is. But then, I'm not exactly the kind who's afraid of a prefs screen. :P
But with the setup you propose, I can see a lot of people double clicking, then hitting play and cussing because the stupid thing is playing the album they were listening to earlier and not the album they just selected. Not to mention a lot of people double clicking, and double clicking, and double clicking, because it's not doing anything.
If we do go that route, I think add & play would be better than just add. That, at least, would take care of the second problem, though not the first.

I haven't noticed any of these scenarios that you are suggesting? Not sure I understand. :ermm:
I don't understand the request. Double-clicking to play is already the default behaviour for QMP.
Unless I'm mistaken, Protocol is talking about Prefs -> Media Library -> Double Click (or Enter) in the Media Library, and wants the default setting to be Adds Selection To Player instead of the current Plays Selection.

Yes. That is correct Toe. Basically the same way that Musicmatch works. Not that I like to compare the 2. But it is expected by many that a double click will add the track to the Playlist. Besides. It is a quicker and simpler action then using the context menu.

I think that having it as an option is a good idea, but not as default behaviour. It would cause too much confusion.

Either way, it doesn't bother me. I just go in and change it. But I know it causes a lot of confusion the way it is now. Especially for newbies. I only posted this thread because I have been asked this question a number of times already. Average computer users prefer double click over context menus.
