Hello
I think this format are more used since 2 years and it would be nice to implent these formats by defaults.
Because I don't like to add a lot of plugins for read format like Winamp.
It's the only thing I don't like on QMP ...
But continue your superb work Paul and Matt I appreciate your Media player.
Thanks
Max
Is it really that hard to grab the plugins?

I suppose this could be a good strategy to attract more iTunes users. Face it, most iTunes users don't even realize what format their music is in most of the time. What makes anyone think they'll know they have to install a plugin to play their files in QMP? :ermm:

yeah, I'm with this.
If a format is common enough, it should be included. Otherwise you give someone qmp to use, and they try it out over winamp/wmp and go, hey it's not playing my wma/mpc files, what gives. When you say, hey no problem, there are plugins for that, if you're lucky they'll ask for a link, if you're unlucky they'll stick with what they were using before. Coz let's face it, 1. people are lazy, 2. people who try qmp will have used something before, so you're facing a conversion process. Let's keep it smooth.
If that's the case, I'd say throw in FLAC & APE support.
I do have one reservation about the MP4 plugin: I suspect it would lead to even more "I can't play my iTunes songs with Q!" threads. Lord knows I've answered enough of those things...

Those are formats that lend themselves to power users; people who would know to download plugins.
MP4 is mainstream now thanks to iTunes.

That is true. Winamp supports AAC/MP4 out of the box so QMP needs to too.
