View Full Version : change built-in keyboard accelerators?

Is there a way to change the built-in keyboard accelerators (shortcuts)? I'm sure this is a basic question, but I couldn't find it anywhere in the forums or in the FAQs. The main thing I want to change is the shortcut for 'pause', which is by default 't'; I want it to be the spacebar (yes, like Winamp, to which I'm accustomed). Can this be done? If so, how? Thanks!

have you tried the "hotkeys" plugin? (which came with the distribution) :)
btw, I always thought that WA used the "C" as the pause key, or is that changed since 5.x?

a) The HotKeys plugin seems to set system-wide keyboard shortcuts, so I'd have to do something like 'Ctrl+A' or something -- spacebar wouldn't work, 'cause everytime I hit the spacebar, even in an e-mail, it'd pause/unpause QCD.
b) You're right; it is/was 'c' in Winamp. I think spacebar is pause/unpause in Quicktime or something like that... but whatever it was, I really liked it! I'll deal with pressing 't' for now. :)

Well, since you obviously don't have a multimedia keyboard (neither do I), I recommend you configure the HotKeys plugin to use numpad keys (on the right side of your keyboard) for playback. Personally, I use them as follows (with Num Lock on):
/ stop * play-pause
+ volume up - volume down
2 clear playlist 3 close player
4 seek back 5 add folder
6 seek forward 0 previous track
del next track
It turns out to be pretty nifty.
