Is there a way to get the play list to update the song titles apperance without having to scroll through the entire playlist. I have 7000+ songs, so it takes a while to use the scroll method every time I open the program? The option to read the ID3 tags and display them on program load was availible in winamp, and is the only feature that I miss since my switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Why you put your song in the playlist ... there is a library!

There's no library in in QCD 4.51. And in the new dev. build you still need to have the songs in the playlist for them to play...

Are you using version 4.51 or are you using Development Build 100?

Version 4.51 doesn't have a good way of getting around that. However development build 100 has included a brand new media library feature that would make your life easier. However it is beta so it isn't advisable to use unless you want to deal with bugs and other problems that could be present.

I am not actually a fan of the media player. I prefer my old school playlist. I am also using the QMP Experience Skin, and I don't think it supports the media library anyways. Well, then I guess if there isn't a good way to do it in the playlist, I'll just try to keep from closing qmp. Though, one complaint I have about the skin is that it doesn't have a button for the encoder, it's rather annoying. But thanks for your help

I kind of worked my way around that with the AMIP plugin, that one comes with a 'jump' search window similar to that one found in WA.. and that one will load all the correct tags, though with large playlists, it takes a while. (and in my case, not waiting till the hard-drive has stopped making noise (ie stopped loading) is a guaranteed way of crashing QCD/QMP) ;)

Try Preferences>Settings>Media Loading> Choose 'On load' in the Determine file lengths option.

I have that enabled, but that only reads the tiems of each song, it doesn't read the Tags, if it could be added to have the program read the tags on load as well, it would be great. I realize it'd take a little while to read them on load, but if you don't want that CPU intensive few seconds when you load, the feature could be turned off. Once this feature is added, i will be 100% happy with QMP, until then I'm only 95% happy with it.

In my case that works for both, times and tags.
First of all it scanns times, than tags. Sometimes u have to scroll a bit up and down to "remind" it, but than it's ok.

Right, but it's that scrolling that I'm trying to avoid in the first place. My playlist just has all my MP3's in it, so it's a few thousand songs long, and takes a little while to scroll through it.

I'm afraid there's not much you can do about it unless you use the media libary in the current dev build. Seriously, what's the point in having to scroll through so many songs to find the one you want? Just try the new media library. I promise, you won't regret at least trying it.

As a side note: with dev build 101, you can load your songs into the media library, close it, and use the playlist normally. You should still get the benefits of the tag database, thus speeding tag loading. However, the player is still designed to not load tags of files that aren't viewed by the playlist, so you still would have to scroll, but it would be a lot faster.

But if you want to stay with 4.51, opening QuickTrack has the same effect as scrolling to the end of the playlist (it forces all tag data to load). Just right click in the display area of the player.
