Please understand that Gracenote digital file recognition and automatic playlisting features will only be available in QMP while it is in beta. After the beta period, these Gracenote features will no longer function and you will be required to download a new version of QMP. Gracenote's CD recognition technology will remain a part of QMP, along with all other features available in the beta versions. The data retrieved from the Gracenote Media Recognition Service will remain intact even after the beta period ends.

I don't know But I know I turned Alot of those features off before I ever imported My Music collection into that library....
The Gracenote MusicID and Playlist features which are integrated into the Media Library will not be part of the final release of QMP. Quinnware and Gracenote are working together to flush out these new services while QMP is in beta.
Afterwards the feature must be removed as they are only available for fully commercial applications. I have no plan at this time to create a pay QMP or 'QMP Pro'.
So enjoy it (or not, as we'll see) while it lasts. If we find we can't live without it, maybe things will go a different direction.

Just so it's known, running MusicID on your collection does ZERO to your actual files. It only updates the data in the Media Library. Even after MusicID has completed it is simple to return to your original tag data by selecting 'Rescan Media Library' in the Library menu.

Yeah I read it that way too - maybe if there's going to be a couple of builds it might be worthwhile re-wording the option slightly.

Paul how much will Gracenote be charging for a licence for the software to use these features or will they be charging on a per user basis?

Like Biggman, I also get a little paranoid. I've spent a lot of time getting some organisation in the tags.
I've got a hell of a lot of metal and it makes sense for me to have, eg, gothenburg and black metal as two separate genres. Loading up two albums, one of each style, to see what happens was a little shocking when it 'identified' them and said they were just 'metal'. It'd be like having the Top 40 all listed as pop.
Anyway, a quick inspection later and it was reassuring to see it hadn't screwed over my tags.
That said, I believe such a feature is quite nice and useful - after all, I have a lot of untagged music. The question becomes, if I have some bebop, do I want it tagged as bebop or jazz? Maybe for me, bebop, but for a jazz afficionado, they'd most certainly want bebop for the same reasons I want gothenburg and black metal separate.
A somewhat minor issue, since if it labels untagged music correctly with artist, album, year etc and 'metal' then it's got me most of the way and is definitely A Good Thing. As long as it never writes over an existing genre ...

The sub-genres are identified properly...sometimes. I have a whole bunch of Eric Dolphy files, some are properly identified as Free/Avant Jazz, the rest are just "Jazz".

Such are the limits of a music information database. Is there any way to manually unidentify a file? Or will I have to do the Library->Rescan Media Library function.
I have no plan at this time to create a pay QMP or 'QMP Pro'.
Yay!

Can I get Beta vers?

Uh... did you check the front page? Or maybe the downloads section?
It a shame that QCD will lost this feature, because today is a must have to any player that can play CDs along with mp3. There are plans to integrate by default some other service in the future?

Would it be fair to suggest that once GRACENOTE has been removed...although QMP will not offer it in a 'PRO' version...GRACENOTE themselves will sell it to those who wish to use it just the same way as iZotope sell their plug in?

I don't think the ability to play cds will be lost, when QMP reaches the final stage... just those two extra features delivered by Gracenote.

Heh, you know I just realized just how many people here weren't even around last time we had dev builds of QCD. For someone like me who's been around a while, the link to the dev builds is right where I'd expect. But I guess there's a lot of you who are just getting your first taste of this business. :evolved:

If I load a CD that came from the local library (that usually doesn't have the info on the tracks) the Gracenote quiry/info will still be available on loading? :ditsy:
Oh I see it in the Downloading notes now!
