Hello All,
Just recently I installed the QDC Player 4.11 with the MAD plugin. I listen to MP3 files which have a bitrate of 192 or better.
I notice that the music is interrupted when I use my computer for other tasks, even just loading a webpage in Mozilla causes an interrupt. The CPU has a workload of less than 30% and I actually don't have that many tasks running, Any XP service that I don't need is disabled.
Needless to say, I don't have any problems like this with other players, winamp2, coolplayer, etc.
I hope to get some suggestions that solve this annoying problem.
Thank you,
Wilbert
Try an alternate Playback plugin. See: Preferences->Plugins->Playback.

Ah, I changed the plugin in playback to crossfading directX and it helps. Thank you for your tip!

QDC Player 4.11 with the MAD plugin...music is interrupted when I use my computer for other tasks..
I've also noticed this behavior a lot more often since upgrading to 4.11. Perhaps I'll install the default QCD plug-in and try it. I'd have never thought of going back to it.

Paul .. I use all the default plugins at work, HOWEVER; when I use a particular law enforcement program that is in DOS, my playback in all forms (mp3,shoutcast and spinamp) become choppy until I minimize the program. Any reason for that to happen?

I know you asked Paul, but maybe you could check QCD's process priority settings in Preferences> Settings> Process Priority to see if that helps.

It's set on normal now. Do you think lowering it would solve the problem? I know going to highest would probably just gum it up some more.
The reason I'm not doing it right away, is that my QCD is on the station that no one is using. ;) No need to check it's priority now. I'll check it another time, however. Thanks again for the idea.
OK .. just did a quick test on the box I'm using now, and lowered the priority to lowest. Same problem, but I think I made a mistake in my first post. The choppy problem seems to be only with spinamp, not shoutcast.

Never mind dude, but if the DOS application uses heavy networking you can expect it cut the stream as the stream can't get the next bit of the song so quickly when another app is taking bandwidth.
I experience the same thing if I'm downloading something and have high rates and QCD is streaming at the same the stream gets chopped a bit sometimes, even with my rather high speed connection (512 KB ADSL)

OK .. I guess I'll just have to live with it, then. Not really a big pain, just annoying. By the way, I also have a 512 KB (cable) at work.
