might be possible if you're using extension limits to extend/retract, but certainly not with the infinite possibilities you're implying.

woah, very cool color method.
in the mini mode, there's a major problem - it seems as if the extension is very far off-center and is therefore interrupting the controls of the stick.
edit: well, that fixed itself when i resized it out to the right (where the color extended over the edge), it reattached to the slider.
im trying to reproduce the problem
edit: it seems like when i resize it in one mode and then change to the other, the 2nd mode is misaligned.

Yeah, that's my main problem. I need QCD to resize every mode to the last size the previous mode was. But apparently that is impossible.
Shucks eh.

Well I suppose it will function well enough if I do not extforced (=) every ext. But the color will need to be chosen per each mode on initial load. Eh good enough for my purposes. 36 possible colour combinations for a stick and playlist mode. Kinda neat. Could be 81 but the eq/playlist factor reduces it a little.

the two modes seem similar enough that you could redesign it so that the playlist opens as another extension below the stick, instead of an additional mode. while this reduces your base color options by one, it would solve your resize problem by linking the two extensions. in the end, it would also give you all nine modes to vary the display colors, giving you a high number of color combo possibilities while still retaining the same resize dimensions all the way through. a most reasonable exchange to my mind.

I thought about that but the problem is the the playlist would not be able to change color with the player. As it is an extension, and the color modes themselves are extensions.
Edit: On second thought I will try some lcd variation of the playlist eq. Thanks for the suggestion, I will post an update.

Okay the player will now have 81 possible color modes. Good suggestion reg.

this sounds really familiar to this thread

check my post in that, I think it might help. (Nobody responded to that, so I'm not even sure it will work).
Anyway, good luck and great skin

I must say it looks great! though the font in the playlist seems a bit large...

even the new beta has a problem with resizing.
if in mode 1 (blue lcd), u stretch the extension, then switch to another mode, the extension remained the same size (on my computer) even if the lcd is a different size.

Ya ya I forgot to get rid of extforced, you are to fast for me gsb. Good eye though.

set extforced= for all the modes so the base color stays the same when switching modes.
make the playlist stretch with the shadestick.

that would duplicate the same problem as before, like gsb found in beta 2.
make the playlist stretch with the shadestick.
How do I do that?

yes, set extforced to = for all your extensions. that will:
-remember the sizing when switching modes
-remember the base color when switching modes (provided you use the same color extensions in each mode)
just put the break line over the playlist and it should stretch with the stick - all additional extensions should already be pwned by the stick since all the open/close buttons are it.
(this is a quick response; if you require further input i'll get back w/ you...)

I did that in beta 2 and it still had resizing issues, i.e. if someone was in blue lcd mode (and changed its size) then went to gray mode, the color extensions will be out of alignment until they resized the gray mode.
Thanks for the playlist suggestion tho.

I'm not sure how to do this, the body of the stick and the playlist are 2 different extensions (i.e. body and body0). The horizontal breakline for stick is [0,0,0] and for the playlist is [17,17,17]. I tried doing both as [0,0,0] but that didn't work. Not sure what to do from here. I will see if any other skins do this.

one immediately similar skin that comes to mind is the playlist on prizm - it keeps the resizable shape when toggling through the modes, and also remembers the encoder extension which sits on top of (and resizes with) the playlist.
i'll actually unzip yours and mess with it a bit when i have the chance.
i rather like your creativity with this scooby skin, in that you've taken one of QCD's contraints and thoughtfully adapted its limitations to provide a skin with 81 possible color combinations. this method (unfortunately) is fairly constricting as far as the type of skin design required to employ it, so it isn't very practical for most typical skin designs. so until QCD gets the ability to do something like this http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3246 this design is about the best adaptation of the concept.

Yes it does remember. Hmmm... I will check out how you did that.

0mg I solved it.
in extforced I forgot to put [b=], for the body extension. I somehow neglected that portion of the skin doc. It's all good now.
Update: Beta 4 posted in first post.
