i find that with the great skins section now available on the site, i hardly ever use the built-in skin browser anymore. i am curious if anyone else's habits have changed? if so, how have they changed?

yep, Im like you. I have completly stopped using the browser. I like reading the comments and opinions and the built in browser doesnt give me that.

the browser does have the comments - it's the same page you see as the skin details on the site. i just find it much easier and convenient to browse online.

but, the browser window in the player seems to have some redraw issues right now when you close it...

Interesting poll Regen. I wondered if the internally skin browser would become redundant. I'm also cleaning house for the next development builds. Things that are turning out to be old and useless (eg: extended info) may get the pinch. This round of development builds promises to bring a number of changes/additions.

it doesnt really matter to me but if you do get rid of the built in then i think you should add a serach option to the online browser

I use the built in every once in a while. I think the built in is a nice thing. Very convenient. But so often am I on this site, that I just click up there on the skins button rather than loading up the skin browser. However, I think the qcd users that are not regular forum viewers are the other way. Therefore, this poll does not represnet QCD users as a whole.

I use mostly the built in browser, but I think the online skins section is pretty cool plus it's useful too.

I use both. They serve different purposes. The built-in list is nice as it shows all the skins in one list that you can sort instantly in different ways, and it keeps track of what you have installed. The online list is better for seeing preview images. I'd definitely miss the built-in list if it were taken out.

I haven't used the built in browser for a long time ,seeing that I use a skin that I made, but I do love the skin section since I'm always surfing the web and this site is usually my first stop!

I use this site for skins nearly exclusively now, but I was going to say what YougTwig said. This poll doesn't really represent many QCD Users... just the ones that come here. If I didn't post on the board (nearly all QCD users don't), I would use the Internal Browser.

If Paul decides to get rid of the Internal Browser, at the least under the "Skins" in the QCD Menu should be a "Get Skins" link to the QCD Skins site. I'm sure that's a given and would probably happen anyway, but I would hate for that to be left out as many users download QCD from different sites, or download it here and then aren't too likely to come back to the site they downloaded it from.

But yeah, I agree with the user above. A few more options, like Search, should be added to the site. And someone up there said the QCD Skin Browser lists them all in a nice small list that could be sorted in any way... maybe it would be possible to have the option to view a list of skins on the site without thumbnails, or a lot of the information like "amount of downloads". So it would look very similar to the Skin Browser and be easier for those who just want a list arranged in any way, and not have to load pictures for every skin. Or maybe an option for 56Kers, a more compact way to view skins... skinners could submit a big and small (80x80) thumbnail along with their skin.

But these are just a bunch of little ideas running through my head. If they sound goofy, just ignore them. You all have done a great job with the site, and these definitely aren't complaints, cause I love the site.

I haven't really explore the skin pages, but what I like about the built-in is that you can easily sort by date, rank, author, ...

Now that the site has a great skin section I only use that. The main reason is that I'm visually oriented, so I can see several skins along with their previews at the same time. With the built-in browser, I'd have to preview each one in turn which took a lot longer and was more cumbersome.

I like the built-in and use it all the time. But I am not against progress and if it is removed, I will adjust to the change.

I'm not removing the skin browser, unless _no one_ uses it and that doesnt seem to be the case.

I mostly use the skin browser to check new additions or updates. I think I have never really used the sites skin section for "browsing" skins. (well except for making a comment or to)

Skin Browser is IMO a very nice feature! :)
I would surely miss it if it was ever taken out (I'm glad it ain't gonna be)
